Highlights of the 1st one-dayer between India and South Africa (9-3-2000)

The partnership of 235 runs for the first wicket was South Africa's highest for any wicket in one-dayers. Their previous highest was the 232 runs between Daryll Cullinan and Jonty Rhodes for the fourth wicket against Pakistan at Nairobi in 1996-97.

The partnership was also the second highest for the first wicket after the Ganguly-Tendulkar's 252 against Sri Lanka at Colombo in 1997-98. The list below has the top partnerships for the first wicket in one-dayers.

South Africa's previous highest partnership for the first wicket was the 190 between Mike Rindel and Gary Kirsten against Pakistan at Johannesburg in 1994-95.

The pair has now put on South Africa's highest for any wicket against India. Gary Kirsten and Hansie Cronje had put on 154 for the 4th wicket at Sharjah on 1995-96.

It was the 32nd instance of two batsmen scoring separate hundreds in the same innings of a one-day international match. Only once before the South Africans have scored two hundreds in the same match. Against Pakistan at Nairobi on 29-9-1996 - Cullinan and Rhodes had scored 124 and 121 respectively for South Africa.

The 301-3 was South Africa's highest against India. The previous highest was the 288-2 at Delhi in 1991- -92

The sixth wicket partnership of 92 runs between Jadeja and Robin Singh was India's best for this wicket against South Africa. It obliterates the previous best of 74* between Praveen Amre and Vijay Yadav at East London in 1992-93.

India's 302-7 was not only its highest against South Africa but it was the highest score made against South Africa in one-dayers by any team. The table below has the highest scores made against South Africa in one-dayers:
