India blank Sri Lanka 3-0

Striker Syed Rahim Nabi struck a brace as India raced to its second straight victory, blanking Sri Lanka 3-0 in a Group-4 League match of the ninth Asian Junior (under-16) Football Championship at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Friday.

After an erratic first half, the hosts played a cohesive game in the latter session and netted thrice to stay on top of the table and on course for a place in the final round of the tournament in Vietnam.

Malsaung Tlunga was the other scorer.

India opened its campaign with 6-0 spanking of Pakistan on June 20.

Today's jeopardised Sri Lanka's prospects, as they had lost 0-1 to Bangladesh in their first match.
