Gayle blows England over

The West Indies scored a heart-stopping four-run victory over England in their final Natwest triangular series match at Trent Bridge on Thursday.

Playing purely for pride with England and Zimbabwe already through to Saturday's final at Lord's, the West Indies grabbed three wickets in the last over through Chris Gayle, who got two wickets for 21 runs, to win the match which looked lost at one time as Alec Stewart blazed his way to his second successive century. He was however left unbeaten on 100 as England chasing the West Indies' modest total of 195 for 9 folded up for 192.

Chris Gayle, who was ironically the highest scorer for the West Indies with 37 runs, was named the man of the match.
