Cronje named in match-fixing scamThe Rediff teamWhat started as an ordinary raid carried out by the Delhi police took on sensational overtones this afternoon, when evidence seized in course of a raid on the premises of one Rajesh Kalra, in the Greater Kailas area indicated that four South African players, including skipper Hansie Cronje, could be implicated in match-fixing. Police indicate that they have "conclusive evidence" that all the games in the recent five-game one day series between India and South Africa, played in India, were fixed. The evidence, according to sources in the police department, include a tape recording of a conversation, with Cronje participating, in which the details of the fixing of the various games were worked out. The Delhi police are meanwhile networking with Interpol to affect the arrest of one Sanjeev, who is reported to be one of the major players in the racket, and who at this point in time is now in London. Stand by for further details, which we will update as and when...
