Kazakhstan down MalaysiaDebutantes Kazakhstan, who went down to India 9-0 yesterday, gave a brilliant display of skill and speed to beat Malaysia 4-2, while China and Japan played a goalless draw in the Hero Honda fourth women's Asia Cup hockey tournament in Delhi today. Kazakhstan went into attack right from the word go. In the second minute they mounted a well-coordinated attack which fetched them a penalty-stroke. Captain Tatyana M converted to put them ahead. Malaysia restored parity in 24th minute. Deva Leela picked the ball near the half line and ran down the left and passed to Che Inan Melati in striking circle. Melati pushed the ball to Angela Kais, whose hit was deflected home by a diving Nor Saliza. In the dying minutes of the first half, Tatayna M scored again from a penalty-corner to put Kazakhstan 2-1 ahead. Kazakhstan continued to dominate in the second session and went further ahead in the 54th minute when Yelena sounded the boards from a penalty-corner. Two minutes later ,Yekaterina socred froma solo effort (4-1), a little before Malaysia could pull one back through Che Inan Melati. In the second match of the day, China called the tune but their forwards failed to get past a stubborn Japanese defence. UNI
