Transcript of the Commentary - New Zealand Innings

Prem: END OF TODAY'S COVERAGE, FOLKS... SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW NZ wins against all odds. Congratulations NZ ! I was the one who thought ZIM will win easily but tremendous performance by Harries, a match winning inning ! Congregates Harries ! Dhirendra - pa Prem: With which, folks, we are shutting down, back live tomorrow at 1.30 PM IST for the second match of the tournament. Till then, adios.

Prem: Fantastic start to the tournament, meanwhile, with a win off the last ball. Hopefully, this will set the tone for the tournament, Harris meanwhile the man of the moment with 37 off 21 balls. Tait giving him great company with 11 off 7. 260/5 New Zealand in 50 overs, winning with five wickets to spare and going through to Monday's quarterfinal against Sri Lanka.

Prem: Alistair Campbell sitting in mid pitch, head in his hands -- must be wondering what more he could have done. Nothing, really, one man came in at the crunch and took it home with some neck or nothing stuff.

Prem: For that one, Harris went way to leg, gave himself tonnes of room and just swung for all he was worth. Neck or nothing, and he turned up trumps, taking the Kiwis home when they looked down and out at one point.

Prem: three needed off the last ball. two needed to tie. Johnson the man in the firiing line. Harris swings, through cover and it's beaten the field, it's a four and he's won it for New Zealand off his own bat.

Prem: Two balls, four runs needed. Campbell talking his bowler down, cooling him off, he has to produce two yorker length balls on the stumps, no other delivery will do just now. Ball five, down the leg side, Tait misses, Harris crosses over, it's all happening out there, Tait runs across and takes the single so it is three needed off the last ball. good thinking there by the batsmen.

Prem: If they tie, then we will also see the first bowl out of the tournament. Johnson to Harris, yorker, single to cover.

Prem: Vall two and Tait swings again, over midwicket, fumle out in the deep gives two where there should have been jsut the one. Zim now feeling the pressure, first fumble of the innings but at the worst time. Tait, ball three, drives to cover and gets one. 5 to win with three balsl left.

Prem: 12 now off 6. Tait on strike, needing one big hit to make the equation more favourable, on off, a huge swing, inside edge, to fine leg for four. 250/5 in 49.1.

Prem: This time, there is a guy deep at midwicket, where Harris got those two fours. No third man or fine leg, which means if Johnson strays, and Harris gets a nick, that's four. Ball one is on off, no ball called, single taken so that is two runs in fact. 247/5 and an extra ball.

Prem: It's going to be Johnson, who went for 18 off the last over. This time, they need 14 from the over. Harris on strike, with that single off the last over. Great start to the tournament, this one, with a cliffhanger for a curtain raiser.

Prem: Harris calling for water and having an impromptu bath out there, the tension must be killing both for him, and the bowler bowling the last over -- campbell an andy flower discussing who that should be, now.

Prem: 15 off 7 needed now, and this is turning into a heck of a finish. Streak, last ball, yorker, Harris finds one to point, 14 needed off 6, 245/5 in 49.

Prem: The bowler bowling the last over is going to be under enormous pressure here, 16 needed off 8, Harris going at 30 off 17, brilliant cameo here. Yorker from Streak, single to Tait, leg bye, 244/5.

Prem: 17 now from 9 needed, Streak, ball four, and Harris finds long on with a drive, single. 16 now off 8.

Prem: Harris really got under that one and gave it everything he had. On the slow mo, it seems like the ball hit his hand, and hit the rope, which makes that a four, not a six. That bit of fielding saved two runs, and that is valuable at this point. 242/5.

Prem: Streak to Harris again, ball three of the 49th, full toss and a huge swing, fielder from long on ran around, got his hand to it but was just over the rope when the ball touched his hand, that should be a six. Umpires checking with the walkie talkies, consulting the third umpire here.

Prem: Harris on strike, 25 off 14 at this point and 21 needed off 11 more. Yorker length, Harris swings and misses completely. 25 now off 13.

Prem: Mr ():: That has to be done only ifmthe match is called off. Streak, meanwhile, for the last time in his spell. Penultimate over of the innings coming up, Tait the man on strike. Needs one, to let Harris go. 22 needed off 12. Ball one, on off, huge swing, finds mid on, single. 21 now off 11. 5 wickets in hand

Prem: Harris seems to have picked out the midwicket region for his assualt, a man now going deep to cover it, Johnson to Harris and this time, over cover, dancing down and driving inside out, four more 18 in the over, 237/5 in 48.

Prem: Johnson pitching short on that occasion, bad ball really at this point, letting the batsman swing his arms freely. Ball five, of the 48th, to Harrris and again, swung through midwicket this time off the front foot, four more, 233/5 at this point and one ball left in the over.

Prem: Johnson to Harris, slower ball, lovely line and right up in the blockhole, harris clubs it back to the bowler, no run. dot balls worth their weight in gold at this point. Ball four, Harris smashes it round through midwicket, four more, 227/5.

Prem: Niren>> hey, not thinking about the Pak-Aus test, got enough to do with this one. Ami>> yes, the match report and commentary transcript will go up as always. Johnson meanwhile to Harris, a huge hit over midwicket was the aim, top edge gets four to third man. 36 more off 17 needed. Ball two, harris straight drives, mid off runs across and fields, two more. six from two, thus far, 30 more needed off 15. Prem: 42 now needed off 19, Tait on strike to Streak's last ball of the 47th. Tait swings it round from middle, through midwicket, two for it and 219/3 the score.

Prem: Mr (), hey, put a name to your posts. Alex Tait, the debutant, the new batsman in and he will have to start firing straight off. Streak, ball five of the 47th. 43 needed from 20 now. On off and Harris, who had crossed over, drives to mid off, single.

still dont get it Is it possible for bowlers of the calibre of akram mcgrath srinath kumble to do anything else except hit the stumps given the fact that there is not even a batsman there ?? Anon Prem: Streak to Parore who swings it high and hard, gets more elevation than distance and down the throat of midwicekt, Zimbabwe strike just when they needed to. Parore leaves, Streak gets his first wicket, 216/5 Kiwis and Parore gone to a good catch by Whittall, for 52.

Prem: Streak, ball two ofthe 47th, Parore clubs it to long off, single. 44 needed off 22, a run a ball rate. Niren: Neither, there is turn but the pitch is slow, which is why free strokeplay is getting tough. Harris meanwhile swings ball three round, single to midwicket.

s the pitch a spinners paradise or just that neither team is good at playing spin? Niren Prem: Streak's back, bowling now to Harris, an on drive fetches one.

Prem: Four overs left for the Kiwis to pull off a win that, if it comes, will be little short of miraculous. Streak has two overs to bowl and those could be the real key to the finish, unless one of the other bowlers really has a nightmarish day in office at this late stage.

Prem: Johnson, Parore on drives, well stopped by the sweeper but three more, Parore onto 51 with that shot. Off 70 balls, and Harris on strike, swings Johnson round, single to midwicket, 213/4 in 46.

It sucks Pulkeshi, we are turning into football now. At least ice hockey does'nt have it yet. Amit Prem: Johnson now to Harris, the off drive fetches one more. 209/4.

Prem: Johnson to Parore, who swings this round tof ine leg off his hips, single. 208/4 in 45.3.

Prem: Johnson now to Harris, who plays to mid off and races the single. Ball two, lifted, in the air but one bounce to long on, single again and still, the big hits not materialising, this is turnning into a hugely professional bowling and fielding performance. Still needed, 52 off 28.

Prem: Raman>> For the second innings, any bowler who bowls wicket to wicket and keeps it on the sutmps, pace or spin doesnt really matter. Harris meanwhile swings the last ball of the 45 round, gets one behind square. Zim were 227/4 in 45, Kiwis behind them, at 206/4.

What would yr bet be on- Spinner or Fast Bowler in slog overs in this pitch Raman Prem: Pulkeshi>> Sorry, but this format, I have to post your quote in here for others to see it, makes discussion difficult. Meanwhile, chris harris the new man in. what do you guys think of the BOWL OUT rule? Pulkeshi Prem: Whittall to Fleming, down the track, tries to lift over mid on, plays all over the straight one and loses off stump, 205/4 now Zimbabwe, and Fleming walks back after a patient knock that ends in a futile fashion. 96/130 balls

This one is gonne be exciting ...if Flrming keep executing those sweet strokes ..we are bound to witness a nailbiter Vishant Prem: Zimbabwe after 45 were 227/4. Meanwhile, Whittall, to Parore, single off the pads to square leg, 203/3. 44.4, Whittall to Fleming, batting 94, down the track and through midwicket, brings in the sweeper, two on and well taken.

Prem: Whittall taking over from STreak here, for the 45th over, beats Parore's flick down the leg side, leg bye. 44.2, fleming down the track thrrough midwicket, single. 202/3.

Is it going to be a tournaments for WK and Captains?? Raman if zim win this match, this would be the first major upset of the tournament Harshad Prem: Johnson to Fleming and again, a really good clean hit, one handed but got under it and lifted it back over the bwoler for six, that was a huge hit, getting under the ball and turning it into a full toss. 200/3 in 44

NZ got 7 more wickets but still not going for big hits. How amazing !! Dhirendra - pa Prem: Johnson to Fleming, ball five of the 44th, 67 now needed off 38, slower ball, played one handed through midwicket, two more, 194/3.

Prem: Nice full length from Johnson here on the stumps. Parore down the track and trying to swish, misses, Flower fumbles the take and they scamper a single, but that could have been very close, Flower almost beat Parore on the throw. Johnson now to Fleming, slanting away, Fleming slashes and misses.

Prem: Johnson now to Fleming, he will need to bowl tight here, no third man for protection as far as I can see at this point. Fleming off drives, one, 191/3.

Prem: Johnson bowled 6-0-15-1 in his first spell, tight controlled line then and he will need to repeat that in this second spell. Looks nice and warmed up, Campbell had let him know a couple of overs back that he would be bowling, so he was warming up on the boundary. 44th over coming up. Ball one, Parore swings it round from off stump, single, 190/3.

Campball should not let Olongo bowl any more if he wants to win this match: Dhirendra Prem: 10 an over needed, the Kiwis have been scoring at 4.5 till now, needing 70 off 42 now and Johnson comes on for Olonga.

Prem: Streak to Fleming, who is down the track, tries to blast it back, Streak lets it through short, Fleming bangs it back to Streak, no run. Good thinking cricket there from the bowler, dragging it down when he spotted the batsman giving him the charge. Streak again, and Fleming finds point with the cut, no run, 189/3 in 43.

Prem: 7.3-0-23-0 is superb figures for Streak here, ball four, to Parore, middle and leg drifting to leg, the flick misses, leg bye, 189/3.

Prem: Streak to Fleming, outside off, driven, finds point off the outer edge, single. 188/3. Prem: Streak now to Parore, 42.2, sorrt on middle, played to midwicket, single.

Prem: Streak continues, to Fleming, 42.1 and a single to mid off. 186/3.

The Kiwis may have kept the late order a little late. Himanshu NZ has to hit olonga awy in thewse 3 overs for atleast 30-35 to have a chance I believe, what do you think? Amit Prem: Olonga to Fleming, ball five, on off, Fleming's drive finds the edge, single to backward point, 185/3. One ball left in the 45th, seven runs thus far in five balls this over, but still not enough.

Prem: 100/3, and off the next ball, Fleming cuts, two more behind point, 183/3. 41.5, Olonga to Fleming, meanwhile, the 103 run partnership coming in 129 balls, but not quite fast enough given the sitaution. Fleming slashes, but that is wide of off, called, 184/3.

Prem: The Zim fielders talking Olonga through his over, fleming now on strike, steps away and slams over cover, two to the sweeper, 181/3.

Prem: Olonga to Parore, reverse swinging full toss, dipping in to middle, Parore flicks but finds midwicket, no run. 41.2: speared in yorker length on leg stump, leg bye. 179/3.

Prem: Amit: The match started at 1.30 pm, IST and will start at te same time tomorrow.

what time did the game start in est please and since the time changes here tomaorrow (one hour back) does the time change there too? AMit Prem: Streak to Parore, 40.6, on off and played ehind point, single, 178/3 in 41.

Prem: Streak now to Fleming. 40.4. on off, the on drive taking the edge of the bat, finds midwicket, no run. Streak making up for Olonga's last over, just one run in four balls thus far. 40.5, to Fleming, on middle, off the pads to square leg, single. 177/3.

Prem: 40.3, to Parore, on middle and leg, played off the hips to fine leg, single, 176/3.

Prem: 15 runs came in that over, thanks to two edged fours Olonga pushing too hard on that one and straying, letting the batsmen use his pace against him. Streak meanwhile back into the attack, he has four overs to go so he should eb anchoring things here till almost the end. Parore on strike. Two balls, immaculate length and line and teh batsman forced to defend, Streak has been brilliant today.

Prem: Olonga to Fleming, again the slash, again the edge, too much room outside off there and four more to third man, 175/3 in 40, by way of comparison, Zim were 195/3 at this stage.

What is Kiwi's strategey now. When RRR is above 9.0, Why they are not taking any chances. Now the game is lost as well. GK Prem: Olonga to Fleming, who steps away, hits to cover, looking to give himself room, runs for it and Whittall fails with the direct hit. Fleming wasn't even in the frame if that had hit. Olonga again, short and lifting, Parore plays it down to squre leg, single. Prem: Olonga to Fleming, down the leg side, flick and miss and wide called as well.

Prem: 39.3, Olonga to Fleming, huge swish, the edge, but no fielder behind the bat on the off, beats the keeper and runs down to third man for four. Too much pace on that ball, the pace working against the bowler at this point.

Prem: 39.2, Olonga to Parore, short outside off, cut away, single down to backward point, 161/3. 98 now needed off 65 at 9.04. Fleming on strike to Olonga, on off, driven through midwicket off the front foot, this one is placed well enough to get two to the sweeper. 163/3.

Prem: Olonga continues, the 40th over coming up here. 10 more after this. 9.09 te ask at this point. Ball one, Fleming tries to pull, ball not short enough, no ball though, single to midwicket so that's two runs there, one extra and one the run off the bat.

Prem: here we go again, another ball change as the one in use loses its colour.

hope azhr will not win toss here, as he is going field first and lose. Abed Prem: Whittall to Parore, who plays with the turn, to square leg, single, 38.3 overs gone and 156/3 the score. Fleming now sweeps, but again, just the single. He has not managed to middle the ball through this innings, looks woefully out of touch. Parore meanwhile with theturn to midwicket, one more. 158/3. Last ball ofthe 39th, Whittall, Fleming makes room outside off and cuts, but again, just one. Great bowling, tight fielding, 159/3 in 39.

Prem: Whhittall to Parore who cuts off the back foot, finds the sweeper behind cover, single. These singles not really doing it any more for the Kiwis, they need the big hits and that means one of these two have to chance their arm a bit. Fleming moves to off and flicks to leg to the next ball, on middle, edge takes it to short fine leg, single.

Prem: 37.5, Olona to Parore who whips it off the pads, doesnt really connect too well, finds midwiket, single. 153/3 and one ball left in the 38th. To Fleming. Bit of reverse swing here for Olonga, beats fleming all ends up with the movement and pace, Flower collets, 153/3 in 38 Kiwis.

Prem: Olonga, 37.4, to Fleming, outside off and driven hrough to mid off, single. 152/3.

Prem: Olonga now to Parore, 37.3, short and lifting on off, played down to midwicket off the top of the bat, single, 151/3

Prem: Run rate climbing with each over, 8.53 now as Kiwis go at an over. Olonga to Parore, played off the pads to midwicekt, single. Needing 110 off 77 from here. Fleming on strike, Olonga, onto the front foot and flicking, through midwicket, single. 150/3. Prem: Whitttall to Parore, down the track, on driving with the turn, to long on, single, 148/3 in 37. 13 overs left in the innings.

Prem: Whittall to Parore, short and fast on leg stump, off the hips, single behind square. Fleming on strike, batting 59 off 101, 37 over in progress, again the attempt to swing it round over backward square, beaten by the spin and bounce, no run. 36.5, Whittall to Fleming, pushed through flatter, driven to midwicket, single, 147/3.

Prem: Whittall to Fleming, ball two, swept around, not too well, single to short fine, that is actually a leg bye, no touch of bat.

Prem: 8.28 now the ask and climbing by the over. Whittall coming back into the attack, here. Replacing Strang, who bowled his 10 overs through in a nice, tidy spell restricting runs in the middle. Kiwis need 115 off 83 from here, at 8.31.

Prem: Olonga again, to Parore, on leg stump, turned off the pads, single behind square. To respond to Mukund's question about the pitch, it is not exactly underprepared, but given the amount of rain, there was no way they could have made hard, flat belters. Of course, if the sun really comes out, then late in the tournament you might get harder pitches, but I would think the first five games are going to follow this pattern. Hello, meanwhile, to Abed from Japan. Olonga to Parore, last ball of te 36th, drifts to leg and Parore gets one behind square, 143/3 in 36.

Prem: Flemin now on strike to Olonga, on leg stump, attempt to swing it around but misses. Ball three, 36th, now needing 8.18 per over. Short ball, played to long leg, off the hips, single. 60 run partnership off 91 balls, here. 140/3.

Prem: Prashant: Well, we did tell you in the preview that any skipper who wins the toss and opts to field is like, way off base. This is liabel to be the norm, through the series -- wickets getting slower in the second innings. As to the format, we will improve this, but the format will be essentially what we have now. Olonga, meanwhile, back into the attack, bowls to Parore, single out to mid off.

Prem: How is the pitch playing now…it seems strokeplay is not easy in the 2nd inning. How is ZIM bowling & fielding compare to NZ. I saw the webcam view of the Dhaka stadium under lights and it just looks fantastic. Is it a full house yet? BTW the new Commentry format is much better than the last one. Hope you keep it this way....Thanks – Prashant, Ohio. Prem: Mukund: About your quote of the Cricinfocommentary, sorry, not posting that here. We do our work, not our business minding other people's commentary. :-)

Earlier ZIMs captain(Campbell) and WK ( A Flower) played superbly and now lets see where NZ captain(Fleming) and WK (Parore) can save NZ from eliminating WILL CUP Dhirendra - PA Prem: Mukund:: We are working on that, will have it in place by the Sharjah tour. Meqanwhile, runs still coming only in singles, last ball of Strang's spell, 35th over, Parore gets one forcing off the back foot. Zimbabwe were 169/3 in 35, Kiwis now 138/3 and falling by the wayside here. Drinks on the field, break time for me, too.

Prem, One suggestion. You can have a link to display the scorecard. This will probably eliminate the need to go to cricinfo. - Mukund Azar must be lucky, he need not have to play pre-quarter with Zimbabave, otherwise, he would be in NewZeland's position now. GK Prem: Parore sweeps, ball in theair but short of Flower at deep midwicket, single. Prem: Strnag's last over, this, 34.2, to Fleming, gentle nudge to short square gets a quick single, good call by Parore

Prem: 7.87 the ask, into the 35th over here, repeat, 35th over, Strang the bowler and Parore off the back foot forces through cover point, single.

Prem: Goodwin this time gives Parore the width, for the slashing shot through covers, great attempt by Grant flower but it goes through for four, brings up the 50 partnership off 92 balls. Single to Parore, and now to Fleming, as Goodwin strays a bit in line here. parore now on strike, short on leg, leg bye. End of 34, 133/3 Kiwis.

Prem: About this match please, Dhirendra -- the regular rediff chat will now be the discussion forum. That is on Thursdays, at 9 pm ist.

Prem,is this a discussion form or are supposed to talk only about the current match ? Dhirendra Prem: Goodwin to Fleming, lovely off drive but even better fielding on the long off fence, and a flat return keeps it down to a single. Prem: Strang, shot and flat to Fleming, played to midwicket, one more. End of 33 overs, Kiwis are 125/3

Prem: Strant to Flemin, overpitched and on driven, single, 123/3 in 32.4 and 75 balls have gone by since the last boundary, which was in fact McMillan's six. Parore sweeps, single to square leg, 124/3 in 32.5. Prem: Ball three, the regulation leg break and Fleming's flick doesn't connect too well, no run, fielded by the keeper running to his right. Ball four, another attempt to flick, misses, but that was down leg and wide called.

Prem: Strang continues, Kiwis now needing 7.7 per over from here, Parore slams through point off the abck foot, gets one. Ball two, Fleming on drives, mistimes, finds midwicket, no run.

Prem: Hi, Dhirendra -- if you look at the scoresheet, you will find the Kiwi openin bowlers really gave it away, 93 runs scored in the first 15 was responsible for that kind of score. Look at Zim, in the first 15 they gave away just 52, and we are as a result finding run scoring almost impossible in this innings.

Hi everyone, It is first time today I am on-line. Rediff's new look is great. I am surprised to know that zim scored 258( they could have scored 20-30 runs more). Reading all about how PITCH will behave from almost every experts who predicted low scoring matches, I am seeing a totally different picture in todays game. Any "Expert' comment ?? By the way ZIM looks in total command at this stage. Dhirendra - PA - USA Prem: Goodwin to Parore who flicks, through square leg, single. Ball two, short, played off the back foot through midwicket, single, that is Fleming's 50, a patient knock, if not exactly inspirational. Parore meanwhile pushes to point, short single, 118/3 in 31.3.

Prem: Fleming to the last ball, drives, finds midwicket, end of Strang's over, the 31st, NZ struggling at 114/3.

Prem: Parore opens the bat face, tries to run one down tothird man, finds point instead, no run. Ball four, Strang to Parore who steps back and cuts, the ball bounces more than expeted, the shot finds point, no run. Ball five, Strang, Parore on his knee and sweeping, finds the fielder on the fence, single, 115/3.

Prem: Strang continues, bowling to Fleming, Kiwis needing 146 off 120 balls now. Ball two is on driven, single, Kiwis 114/3

Prem: Parore on drives, finds midwicket as he fails tot ime that on right. Ball ix of the 30th, pushed to point, no run, 113/3 in 30 overs Kiwis, Zimbabwe at this stage were 135/3.

Prem: Parore this time driving, inside out, through cover, finds the sweeper, one more.29.4, Goodwin to Fleming, flat and fast on off, driven through point, finds the sweeper, good pick up and quick release from Streak, keeps it down to one. Prem: Goodwin continues, Parore square cuts, single, 110/3 in 29.1. Goodwin, 29.2, to Fleming, off the pads that ball drifting to leg stump, single to the batsman behind square. 111/3.

Prem: Fleming, ball three, off his pads and gets one to square leg, 108/3. Ball five, Parore cuts, in the air but short of a wide gully fielder, no run. Last ball from STrang, to Parore, down the track on driveing, single, 109/3 in 29. 4 in the over.

Prem: Strang continues, Parore on strike and sweeping, gets one to backward square, 107/3. Run rate required now gooing above 7 an over, Kiwis getting cramped here on the chase with some tight bowling and great fielding. Fleming drives, finds mid on, no run.

Prem: Ball loses its colour and umpires Bucknor and Willey calling for a replacement. Lull in play, meanwhile.

Prem: Ball four, Fleming cuts, but finds the fielder at point, no run. Ball five, off driven to the left of the fielder, single, 105/3 in 27.5. Last ball of the 28t, to Parore, on off and pushed back to the bowler, who fields well on the follow through, 105/3 in 28 and just two in the over.

Prem: Whittall being taken off, Goodwin being brought in to the attack, leg breaks, but he is an irregular for Zimbabwe. Parore on strike. 28th over coming up, the flick off abll one finds midwicket. Goodwin bowling pretty flat and tight on off. Ball two, pushed to cover, no run. ACtually, Goodwin seems to be bowling slow seam up stuff instead of leg breaks, here. Single to mid off, third ball, to parore, Kiwis 104/3.

Prem: Parore sweeps, finds the man on the line at square leg, single. Last ball of the 27th, to Fleming from Strang, the on drive fails to beat the fielder, no run. 103/3 in 27 the score.

Prem: Strang to Fleming, the on drive finds midwicket, not quite middling that. Kiwis now needing 158 off 141. Single to Fleming off ball three, played to sweeper midwicket.

Prem: Strang to continue. Fleming on strike. Down the wicket and driving, but fails to beat the field, just the one to mid off. NZ getting to the 100 mark at 3.8 per over. Parore on strike. Strang, ball two, the leg break taking the edge of the bat, onto the on side, good running gets the one.

Prem: Whittall to Parore, off the back foot and with the turn, behind square leg, single, 98/3 and last ball of the 26th, Fleming pushes off the back foot to mid on, single, 99/3 at the end of 26.

Prem: Fleming's turn to play off his pads, through midwicket, one more, 97/3.

Prem: NZ were 94/3 in 25, Zimbabwe were 121/3 at that stage. whittall meanwhile continues, Parore off his pads gets one to midwicket. 96/3

Prem: Whittall, outside off, Fleming cuts and finds backward point. Correction,t hat was the 25th over finished and now the 26t vominh up.

Prem: Lovely bowlin here from Strang, he is angling it past Fleming and then bringing it back with the spin, Fleming unable to eally get hold of him. Edges a sweep, single, 94/3 and just two in the over, the 24th of the innings.

Prem: The overs between 15-25 is when Vettori and Harris pegged Zimbabswe back, giving NZ now a chance to catch up. The catch though is that after 25, Andy Flower and Campbell really opened up, and NZ will need such another partnership here to pull this one off. runs, fornow, coming in signles as Strang bowls the 25th. 93/3, 24.3.

Prem: Last ball, of the 24th, whittall to Fleming, angled in to off, flat and fast, no run, 92/3 in 24.

Prem: Whittall, round the wicket, Fleming sweeps, ball hits the top of the bat, ball in the air but ballooning over midwicket and short of the sweeper, one for it. Risky, but got away with it there. Parore on drives, again not getting hold of it, finds short mid on, no run. 91/3. Ball five, another on drive, single.

Prem: Whittall continues, bowling to Fleming who plays through midwicket, single. 89/3, into the 24th over here and Zim needing to go at 6.3 from here on. Parore plays ball two to point, one more.

Well this will be the most crucial p’ship between Fleming & Parore….If these two stick There then there is a chance else ZIM looks like in the driving seat at the moment. – Prashant, Ohio. Prem: Strang to Parore who tries to paddle, that one bounced and spun and hits the batsman on the shouldeer, no run. Last ball, Parore misreading thef light, trying to on drive, gets bottom of the bat on it to the keeper, 88/3 at the end of the over.

Prem: Meanwhile, this tournament being played with all kinds of special cameras, one ofthem slowing things down and blowing the image up to show that maybe, on that caught behind, the ball might have missed the edge by a fraction. Strang meanwhile continues, to Fleming, keeping him quiet with successive deliveries on off, drawing him forward in defense three times on the trot. Ball four, shorter, coming in with the tunr, Fleming gets one to midwicket and brings Parore on strike.

Prem: Singles to both batsmen here, five runs in the over, the 22nd, takes it to 87/3 Zimbabwe.

Prem: Mukund, thanks, we are working on this, the final product should be ready by Wednesday.

Thanks Prem for ur replies. You guys deserve a pat on the back for the new system. I feel the response is good. As one involved in developing Web applications I feel the output looks good. - Mukund Prem: Whittall to Fleming, on the front foot pushing to mid on, single, 84/3.

Prem: Whittall to Fleming, over number 22 and off the edge, running it down to third man, two for it. 84/2. Ball three, another attempt to run it down but finds point, no run.

Prem: Parore defensive to the last ball of that over, on off, NZ after 21 overs, in all kinds of trouble having lost 3 -- including McMillan, who alone of the batsmen thus far was stroking quite smoothly -- back in the hut, 81/3.

Prem: Well flighted, Fleming on drives, a single, 82/3 in 20.4 and Parore back on strike. Ball five, off drives, Strang dives and fields. No run.

Prem: Adam Parore meanwhile the new man in. Strang short, and Parore punches off the back foot, gets one through point.

Prem: Mukund:: not really, but then he is more of a containing bowler, concentrates on line and length, bowls to his field, turns the ball just enough to make run scoring difficult.

Is strang as good as Mushtaq or Kumble? - Mukund, California Prem: Now here is a bit of a turn out for the books, McMillan beaten on a leg break, Andy Flower appeals for the stumping but he is given out caught behind. Good judgment by Bucknor, there really was a touch and that is the end of McMillan.

Also I think ZIM is boosted by Johnson and their fielding is always a plus. Hope that Indian team is watching this match and learn from ZIM fielding ? - Prashant, Ohio Prem: Strang, over number 21, to McMillan, short and McMillan rocks back, gets under it and hits it high, wide and handsome, over midwicket for a six.

Prem: Ball 5 of the 20th, Whittall now to Fleming, on middle turning to fof, Fleming off the back foot to square leg, single, 72/2 and McMillan on strike, last ball of the 20th, flatter and faster, pushed to wide midwicket, signle, 73/2 in 20 Kiwis, Zimbabwe at this stage were 107/3.

Prem: Whittall continues, bowling to McMillan, off the hips but finds Campbell at square leg, great stop, no run. Ball two, shorter and faster, McMillan punches off the back foot back to the bowler. Ball three, turned off the pads but again, finds Campbell, no run. Ball four, 20th over in progress, on leg, played to midwicket, 2quick single taken, 71/2.

Prem: Strang to Fleming and again, a well pitched up leg break has Fleming defending, Kiwis 70/2 in 19.

Prem: Good ball, flatter through the air, pitching off and turning in and Fleming defends.

Prem: Strang, now to Fleming, who is on the front foot, on drives, wide of long on, two for it and 70/2 in 18.4.

Prem: Actually, there was a touch of bat on that one, good umpiring by Bucknor there. McMillan meanwhile sweeps again, finds fine leg, single.

Prem: Strang, 1/19, to McMillan, fuller length, the paddle finds the pad, huge appeal but negatived, brisk running fetches two leg byes.

Prem: McMillan off drives, last ball of the 18th, single. 65/2 in 18.

Prem: Whittall again, fuller length, Fleming pushes out on the on, slight misfield by the bowler permits the single.

Prem: Mukund, sorry abotu that, we will revamp this thing on Monday, tillthen, I suggest you type on word and cut paste onto this thing. Whittall meanwhile to McMillan who ondrives, single to the fielder at long on, 63/2. Next ball, Fleming misses with the flick, appeal for LBW, bu that was going down leg side.

I feel the win against India is a turning point. Zim Players would have got off the mental block and I feel would start winning against bigger opponents. (BTW, the autorefresh erases the mail screen-this is the third time iam typing. And the window is too small). Thanks. Mukund Ramadoss Prem: 1/18, Whittall round the wicket to Fleming, played to midwicket, no run. 2/18, again on off, pushed to mid on, quick single, 62/2.

Prem: McMillan looking the more fluent of the two batsmen here, and double spin attack now with Whitall, the offie, coming on at the other end.

Prem: Strang, 6/17, McMillan on strike, on middle turning to off, McMillan paddles through square leg, two more, 61/2 in 17 Kiwis.

Prem: Strang, 2/17, Fleming finds mid on with the push, no run. Some turn here for Strang. 3/17, Fleming again on the on side, finds midwicket this time. 4/17, Strang to Fleming who is struggling for touch here, plays with the turn, finds square leg. 5/17, Strang to Fleming, flighted outside off, pushed to mid off, single. 59/2.

Prem: 96/3 in 16 Zim, NZ 58/2 at te same stage now needing 5.91. And post drinks, it is Paul Strang with his leg breaks, to Fleming. First ball, off the back foot to square leg, no run.

Prem: And with that, drinks on the field, taking a breather here myself, be right back.

Prem: Olonga to McMillan, 6/16, on middle and leg, flicked through midwicekt, two more, 58/2 at the end of 16.

Prem: Olonga to Fleming, 5 of 16, pushed to mid on, quick single scrambled. 56/2.

Prem: Olonga to Fleming, on off, lovely flowing off drive but straight to the fielder at mid off, no run.

Prem: Olonga to Fleming, 3 of 16, short on off and played to midwicket, fielded, no run.

Prem: Olonga to McMillan, short on off, played off the back foot to sweeper cover, single. 55/2

Prem: McMillan on strike, Olonga bowling, on middle and flicked off the pads, finds the sweeper, two more, 54/2 the score

Prem: Johnson, last ball of the 15th, over, Fleming on strike, on off and driven, finds cover, no run, NZ 52/2 in 15. In contrast, Zim were 93/3.

Prem: On middle and off, Fleming drives, finds mid on, no run. Great field setting this from Campbell, he's covered pretty much all the angles. Johnson, ball five ofthe 14th, on off, the drive finds mid on, no run.

Prem: Johnson to Fleming, who drives on the on, finds short midwicket, no run. Ball three, short on off, a huge slash by the batsman, bottom edge into the ground and onto the pad, almost dragged that onto the stumps.

Prem: Johnson to McMillan, on middle and played to midwicket, single.

Prem: Olonga, last ball of the 14th, and that one found the inner edge as McMillan tried to cover drive -- the abll actually squirting to backward square off the edge, one more to end the over.

Prem: Fifth ball of the 14th, Fleming on strike, off drives and gets one more, 50/2 the score.

Prem: Olonga to McMillan, that came in sharply, faster as well, beats the attempted push, rapped on the pad, leg bye.

Prem: Olonga to McMillan, better line, bang on off and played to cover, no run. Prem: Olonga to McMillan, on middle and leg, well played off the pads through square leg, finds two to the sweeper.

Prem: Oloonga continues, finds Fleming's edge first up, but down to third man and one more to the total, 46/2.

Prem: Johnson to McMillan, uppish cover drive, opening the bat face enough to split the gap between cover and mid off, in the air but wide of te fielder and four for that, Kiwis 45/2 in 13.

Prem: Johnson now to Fleming, 5th of the 13th over, Fleming batting 19 off 26 with the only four of the Kiwi innings so far, flicks, finds midwicket, single, 41/2

Prem: Johnson, 4/13, on off and off the back foot, to cover, good fielding keeps it down to a single, 40/2

Prem: Johnson, ball three of the 13th, to McMillan, slower ball, up in the blockhole and played back down the track. No run

Prem: Johnson to McMillan, wide down the leg side and one more to the total.

Prem: Johnson now to McMillan, outsdie off, the slower one and the batsman mishits, foxed by the change of pace, finds cover, no run.

Prem: Johnson bowling to Fleming, short, played through point, single. 38/2 the score, and McMillan on strike.

Prem: Interesting, Streak being taken off after a lovely spell of 6 overs, and Johnson comes back on from his end.

Prem: Olonga, to Fleming, last ball of the 12th, short on off, gentle push to point and a short single and again, a direct hit from Strang would have been curtains for McMillan. In the evnet, a single to end the over.

Prem: Olonga to Fleming, ball three of the 12th, on middle and leg and Fleming flicks, beats short midwicket, four for it and 36/2 the score. Olonga needs to bowl more middle and off, there is no fielder on the leg behind the bat barring a very short fine leg in catching positon, a touch and it is four down to fine leg. Next one, slanting outside off, Fleming swings and misses.

Prem: Olonga to Fleming, wide, down the leg side, bad line, 32/2 Kiwis.

Prem: Olonga to Fleming, slanting away outside off and a huge hoist by Fleming, misses completely.

Prem: Olonga to continue, Fleming on strike, over the wicket and full in length on off, played to mid off, fielded, no run.

Prem: McMillan on strike, Streak for the last ball of the 11th, played down to point off the open bat face, finds the fielder, no run. End of a superb over, 31/1 in 11 the score

Prem: Streak, to McMillan, on off, the coverdrive finds the fielder, no run.

Prem: Never an easy chase, here, and Kiwis getting themselves right behind the eight ball now with those two dismissals. Again, Streak bang on target, and McMillan defensive.

Prem: Streak, first up[, beating McMillan with a late leg cutter outside off. Ball three of the over, on off, the batsman defends.

Prem: That wicket was the result of sheer pressure, and Craig McMillan, a free-flowing strokeplayer, now coming in to the crease.

Prem: And that could be the wicket -- Fleming, ball one of the 11th, flicks through midwicket, they race the single, Fleming calls for the second, Astle responds then returns, Goodwin's pick up and throw is flat and fast, and Astle is gone by amile.

Prem: Last ball of the 10th, short and lifting on off and Astle defends, 30/1 NZ in 10. Contrast that with Zimbabwe, going at 68/1 at this point -- this is great bowling and fielding by Zim till this point.

Prem: Olonga, ball five, to Fleming, on middle and leg, flicked, finds sweeper midwicket, one run, 30/1 NZ.

Prem: These guys are on fire today -- Fleming flicks, and Strang at a very short midwicket picks up in a flash, that one was really travelling and Strang made it look simple. Ball four, climbs and is faster, Fleming beaten for pace, almost drags it back onto the stumps, sees it bounce over and to the keeper.

Prem: Olonga to Fleming, outside off, driven, finds cover, no run.10th over in progress.

Prem: Olonga to Astle, pitches on middle and leg, attempted flick beaten for pace, leg bye results.

Prem: Johnson's off, Henry Olonga comes in to the attack, and facing him is Stephen Fleming. Olonga will need to keep the good work going, bowl tight, he's been given a slip and a very short fine leg, first ball, to Fleming, is driven to extra cover, a no ball, so the single plus the extra fetch two to the total.

Prem: Streak, last ball of the 9th, to Astle, batting 9, on off and again, Astle has only one option, the defensive push to the bowler, no run, 27/1 in 9 Zim.

Prem: Streak to Astle, yorker, lovely ball and dug out back tothe bowler, and just one run so far in the over, this is brilliant work from Streak.

Prem: Ball three, AStle off the back foot drives, finds extra cover, fielder in very quickly to stop the single, and the pressure must be mounting on the batting side now. Astle has a huge swing at the fourth ball, hits it into the ground, no run.

Prem: Streak continues. Fleming gets a bit of wood on the first ball, quick single scrambled before the bowler can run down and field. Next ball, AStle punches off the back foot and Campbell at a ver short cover dives to bring off another glorious stop. The crowd is cheering the Zim fielders now and they really deserve it.

Prem: Goowin this time demostrating outstanding fieldin, that flick of AStle was travelling to the midwicket fence and Goodwin at short midwicket dives to his left, stops, and throws in and not even a single given. That was superb stuff to end the over.

Prem: Johnson, outside off, the slower ball again, Fleming picks it well, plays late and finds mid off, single results.

Prem: NJ, slower ball, Astle tries to swing over midwicket, beaten by change of pace, rapped on the pad, leg bye results, 25/1.

Prem: Johnson to Astle, who cover drives, hits hard into the ground, finds cover, no run.

Prem: One thing for sure, where fielding is concerned, Zim are outplaying the Kiwis thus far, this really is classy fielding on display. Fleming meanwhile off drives, one more.

Prem: Johnson, on off and Fleming strokes nicely out through the covers, gets two to the sweeper.

Prem: 21/1 and the last ball of the 7th, Streak to Astle, on off and he hits it very hard to mid off, no run as that one goes too fast to the fielder. End of the 7th and the Kiwis 21/1.

Prem: Sorry, just two on that and off the next ball, Fleming cover drives, gets one more.

Prem: Streak to Fleming, a slip and leg slip in place, on off and the drive finds mid off. No run. Campbell setting a very good field here, seems to have plugged most gaps and the bowlers bowling to the set field. Streak, to Fleming, on middle, he moves to off and off his hips, gets it behind square, finds the sweeper but a long chase for him, three to the batsman.

Prem: A shade short on middle and Astle off his hips through square leg, gets the one, Zim 16/1.

Prem: nice start here by Zimbabwe, really checking the Kiwis, question is whether they have the support bowling to keep it up. Astle slams a drive at streak, hitting on the up but again, very quick fielding this time at mid off denies the single.

Prem: Johnson slightly relaxing in line, tending to alternate between leg and outside off. Singles to both batsmen, Johnson will need to pitc the ball a shde further up here. Brings this one in sharply, gets Fleming on the pad, appeal for LBW but that was drifting to leg. No damage.

Jimbabwe has a good sucess rate with England. Looks like it will be in semis Chan NZ's batting line up looks pretty decent... Astle, Fleming, Harris, McMillan & Parore. But looking at the averages, the highest is Astle at 35+ and then comes Fleming at 32+. The rest are in the range of 29. What it basically shows is that NZ does not have a big match winner in them... NZ really need to click as a "team" today to pull this one off. Sudhakar G Prem: Johnson to Fleming, short and wide of off but Fleming overeager with the slashing drive, misses. Ball two, tucked off the pad, finds square leg, single. Prem: Streak this time finding Fleming's edge with one slanting past the left-hander, ball drops just in front of the sole slip, single to end the over, 14/1 in 5. In contrast, Zimbabwe wer 42/1 thanks to Campbell's pyrotechnics and the largesse of Doull and Allott. Prem: Streak to Astle, ball five, this one is smashed on the on side and a spectacular stop from mid on stops the four, just the single resulting. Zim thus far, extremely impressive in the field, this was Johnson doing thefielding. Prem: These two are bowling very well, the real prolem for Zim is the support act. A bit of room outside off on the fourth ball, AStle smashes through cover on the up but doesn't get hold of it properly, enough wood though to send it past cover for two more. Prem: Streak to Astle, ball three, short and lifting on off and middle, AStle pushes to point and again, the fielder is very fast in coming in, no chance of a run. Prem: Streak to Astle, raps Astle on the pad on leg stump and races down the track to prevent the leg bye. Great fielding again. Prem: Brings Fleming, the Kiwi skipper, to the crease, tojoin Astle. Now on strike to Streak, plays to cover and again, very brisk fielding denies the run. Prem: That was the last ball of the over, so New Zealand now 11/1 in 4. And Johnson, after a series of very good deliveries, getting a wicket off the one bad ball he bowled thus far. Prem: And that is a fortuitous wicket -- short ball, bad one, Bell launched into a huge pull and slammed it straight to the guy at short square leg, that was hit with enormous power, but Wishart held well after a little juggle, Bell gone for 2/15. Prem: Johnson, nice easy action, lovely delivery stride and smooth release, on off stump again and Bell flicks, finds short midwicket, no run. Prem: Johnson again, on off, Bell runs it down to point, finds the fielder, no run. 11/0 the score. Ball four, NJ to MB, on off, lovely line and forces the defensive push. Prem: Johnson to Astle, and another leg bye as Astle misses with the flick. Next ball, outside off, an airy drive by Bell, beaten for both pace and bounce, that one skidded through real quick and Flower collects. Prem: Streak to Astle, this one goes down leg, Astle tries to flick, misses, leg bye, 10/0 in 3 the score. Prem: Correctin, that was Bell on strike, AStle now taking Streak, on middle and off, tucking the batsman up, played off the hips to short midwicket, no run. Prem: Streak to Astle, good in cutter, Astle looking to run it down to third man, ball cuts in, off the inside edge to fine leg for one. 9/0. Prem: Streak continues, ball one drifts a shade to leg, played off the pads but to short midwicekt, no run,. Ball two, on off, driven, superb fielding at point stops the run. Zimbabwe look very "up" in the field just now, they are going toneed to back up their bowlers with some outstanding fielding here. Ball three, on off, played square by Astle, finds point, no run. Prem: NJ to MB, this one is on leg, played off the pads, down to fine leg, single, Zim 8/0 ad Astle on strike, to the last ball of the 2nd. On off, punched to coverpoint, fielded, no run, 8/0 Zim in 2. Prem: Johnson to Bell, right up there in the blockhole this time and the batsman digs it out with some difficulty, no run. Prem: Ball three, outside off, Astle goes for an almighty cover drive, gets the bottom of bat on it, down to third man for a single, 7/0 Zim. Prem: Johnson to Astle again, good line, off and middle and a shade short, pushed to midwicket, no run. Prem: Nice easy run up and quite nippy, Johnson, ball one is middle and leg, AStle flicks, beaten for pace, no run. Prem: 5.16 the ask rate for the batting side, Neil Johnson -- the former Natal fast bowler, rated good with swing, to bowl the second over, Astle the man on strike. Prem: Streak to AStle, on the leg side, bad line, Astle pushes through midwicket, long chase, gets three, 6/0 Kiwis in one over. Prem: Again an off and middle line, Bell on the back foot trying to turn, finds square leg with the push, the batsman making his debut, here. He's playing too much on the back foot given the length, LBW becomes an option. Ball four, push to cover, Whittall, lovely fielding, moving to his right, if that direct hit had landed on target, Bell was bye bye. As it is, a risky run taken. Prem: Streak to Bell, off and middle line, turned off his pads but finds midwicket, no run. A gully is the second catching position, Zimbabwe looking to check runs in the initial phase here. Right in the blockhole this time, lovely ball, has Bell scrambling to dig it out. Prem: Streak to Astle, this is better, on off, a push on the up has the ball in the air but dropping fractionally short of cover, good running gets the single, 2/0. Prem: Campbell and Streak taking their time, getting the field just right, and ball one coming up, a loosener, way wide of leg and with the batsmen crossing over as well, it is Astle to take strike, 1/0 Kiwis All the best to both the teams, "May the best team Win" Sudhanshu, Bangalore Prem: Okay, here we go, Heath Streak to open the bowling with just the single slip in place, Matthew Bell, right hander, at the crease for the Kiwis.
