Vieri loses his shirt to Border

send this story to a friend

He may be the leading goal-scorer at World Cup '98, but his turn on is the world's highest scorer of Test runs.

Thus, Christian 'Bobo' Vieri proposes a straight swop -- his shirt, for an autographed bat from former Australian cricket captain Allan Border.

Vieri is, we are told, an ardent border fan. "I used to play a lot of cricket, and I thought he was a very very good batsman," says the Italian star, with five goals in four games and looking to break the glass ceiling of six in a World Cup, which is the tally of his other sporting idol, former Italian soccer great Paulo Rossi.

Border, made aware of this fan in an unlikely quarter, is making arrangements to send him a bat. "I'll send him a jersey in exchange," promises the burly 'Bobo', adding on a laugh, "But let me get the bat, first!"
