As rains lashed Mumbai, the metropolis faced one of the highest tides of the season that hit its shores on Thursday.
The city experienced a high tide of 5.1 metres at approximately 1.23 pm, which will last till about 7.25 pm, officials said.

The Meteorological Department had allayed fears of large-scale flooding due to rains and said that it was unlikely that very heavy rains would be experienced during the high tide period.

Moderate rains were experienced across the city with the Colaba station recording 20.4 mm of rainfall and the Santacruz station recording 35.9 mm.

Civic body officials said that there were no incidents of major water logging reported in the city. Pumps had been operated at certain low-lying locations, like Milan subway in suburban Andheri, to drain out excessive rainwater.

Train services on the Central and Western lines were largely on schedule with no water logging on the tracks. Air traffic at the city's airport also remained unaffected.
Road traffic was slow, but there were no snarls on any of the arterial routes, police officials said.

Five persons were injured in separate incidents due to rains in the city over the last 24 hours, police said.

In another incident, two persons suffered injuries after a portion of a wall of an eatery collapsed on them at Dharavi in central Mumbai. The two injured were admitted to Sion Hospital, police said.
Four incidents of trees falling due to heavy rains were also reported across the city, but no one was injured, they said.
