Leopard attacks forest officers in Siliguri
This beautiful cat strayed into Lumbu slum near Siliguri on Tuesday afternoon. It attacked a woman before pouncing on two men including a forest department employee. It then hid in a bush, frustrating the effort of forest and wildlife officers who were trying to capture it.
In the evening, it emerged and attacked three people including a policeman. The officials fired in self-defence, injuring the leopard. It was taken to the Sukna forest office, where it died, said V.K. Sood, conservator of forest (wildlife), north Bengal.
