Tahrir Square throbs with prayers, protests

Cairo's Tahrir Square, which has become synonymous with protests, has witnessed passionate demonstrations and some fireworks, literally, in the last few days.

Egypt is once again caught up in the rocky waves of political upheavals and massive protests.

Nearly two years after dictator Hosni Mubarak was ousted after years of misrule at the peak of Arab Spring in February 2011, Egypt is nowhere close to having a stable government.

We bring you all the action from Tahrir Square, which has been taken over by supporters and opponents of beleaguered President Mohammed Morsi.

Protesters, who are against Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi, gesture in Tahrir Square. Egypt's armed forces overthrew elected Islamist President Mursi on Wednesday and announced a political transition with the support of a wide range of political, religious and youth leaders.

A statement published in Mursi's name on his official Facebook page after head of Egypt's armed forces General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's speech said the measures announced amounted to "a full military coup" and were "totally rejected"
