Prez has 2.5 cr; here are some richer politicos
President Pratibha Patil on Monday made public her movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 2.49 crore on the request of Central Information Commissioner as she completed four years in office.
She posted on her website the details of her immovable properties worth Rs 83.83 lakh and movable assets worth Rs 1.66 crore.

Mayawati: Rs 86 crore
Arguably the richest chief minister in India, Mayawati owns total assets worth Rs 86 crore.
The Uttar Pradesh CM owns property worth Rs 75 crore, including a commercial centre in Okhla worth Rs 15.5 crore and plots at Sardar Patel Marg worth over Rs 54 crore, among others.
The Bahujan Samaj Party chief, known for her penchant towards diamonds, owns jewellery worth Rs 90 lakh.
The CBI had pointed out that Mayawati's declared assets of Rs 1 crore in 2003 went up to Rs 50 crore in 2007 and said there was 'ample evidence' to show she had amassed wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income.
The UP CM appealed before the Supreme Court against the allegations.
Y S Jaganmohan Reddy: Rs 445.70 crore
YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy before contesting the by-poll from Kadapa constituency in Andhra Pradesh in April, 2011 declared that he and his spouse have assets worth Rs 445.70 crore and loans to the tune of Rs 10.12 crore.
In an affidavit filed before the officer, the son of former AP CM Y S Rajashekhara Reddy said he has assets worth Rs 390.70 crore, while his wife owns movable and immovable property worth Rs 55 crore.
The richest MP in the country, who quit Congress over growing strains with the party high command, said he had Rs 12.46 lakh cash, Rs 5.52 crore bank deposits, Rs 359.59 crore of shares, bonds and debentures, Rs 7.08 lakh postal savings, Rs 11.13 lakh of other investments and 667.3 grams of gold valued at Rs 20.56 lakh in his name.
His immovable assets include agricultural land at Idupulapaya (Rs 13.89 lakh) and commercial properties (Rs 24.79 crore), according to the affidavit.
Sharad Pawar: Rs 3.5 crore
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, on the other hand, declared total property worth only Rs 3.5 crores when he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Baramati, in 2004.
Interestingly, his daughter Supriya Sule, who now represents the Baramati constituency in the Lok Sabha, owns net property worth Rs 50 crores.
Jayalalithaa: Rs 51 crore
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa declared her total property worth Rs 51 crore before the assembly elections in 2011, which includes 14.5 acres of grapeyards in Andhra Pradesh and Rs 1 crore in a tea estate in Kodanad in Nilgiris districts.
She said she was unable to give the actual market rate of her various properties as police had seized documents and handed over to a court in Bangalore which is probing her disproportionate wealth case.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief is facing nine cases against her, three of them for economic offenses, one wealth case and one by the Central Bureau of Investigation on her birthday donation from an unknown individual from abroad. She did not declare the value of her jewellery as they are in court.
Yeddyurappa: Rs 34 lakhs in bank; has 2.6 kilos of gold
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who faces several corruption charges, in May, 2011 declared that he has only Rs 34 lakh in his bank account.
His latest declaration stated that he doesn't even have a car, but owns 19 acres of agricultural land. He also said that he owns 2.6 kilos of gold (worth approximately Rs 49 lakhs) and 76 kilos of silver.
However, the opposition was clearly unconvinced by the Lingyat leader's declaration, stating that by not declaring the assets owned by his family members, Yeddyurappa is not revealing the truth.
Naveen Jindal: Rs 131 crore
Congress MP from Kurukshetra in Haryana, businessman-turned-politician Naveen Jindal owns property worth a whopping Rs 131 crore.
One of the richest MPs in the country, Jindal heads the steel and power business units of the OP Jindal group.
L Rajagopal: Rs 122 crore
Congress MP from Vijayawada in Andra Pradesh, Lagdapati Rajagopal declared that he owns total property worth Rs 122 crore.
The face of 'United Andhra' movement to counter the intensifying agitation for a separate Telangana state, Rajagopal is the founder the Lanco Group which has interests in construction, power, engineering and infrastructure.
Praful Patel: Rs 89 crore
Union minister and NCP MP Praful Patel declared his total assets worth Rs 89 crore.
The MP from Bhandara-Gondiya constituency in Maharashtra, Patel comes from a family with interests in tobacco (beedi) and real-estate industries.
Kapil Sibal: Rs 31 crore
Union Minister for Human Resources and Development and Telecom Kapil Sibal declared net property worth Rs 31 crore.
The minister who represents Delhi's Chandni Chowk constituency in Lok Sabha is also a Supreme Court advocate and a legal consultant.
Mamata Banerjee: Rs 4.73 lakhs
But even when the country has a majority of leaders riding on massive fortunes, there are some humble exceptions.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2009 declared her total assets worth only Rs 4.73 lakhs.
The former Union minister for railways and Trinamool Congress chief, who does not own a car or a house, has Rs 28,322 in cash and Rs 1.8 lakh in bank deposits, as per her declaration before the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
