The indefinite curfew imposed in summer capital Srinagar on Wednesdy evening following sectarian clashes will continue until Friday without any break.
This was announced by the state authorities on Thursday evening after a review of the overall situation in the capital city. An indefinite curfew was imposed in areas falling under nine police stations of the summer capital mostly in the old city following eruption of Shia-Sunni clashes.

The administration moved heavy police and paramilitary, the Central Reserve Police Force reinforcements in the affected areas of the city as well other areas to prevent spread of the violence.

No movement was allowed in the curfew bounds areas of the city where security forces were patrolling to enforce the restrictions.
The Kashmir University has postponed all the exams in view of the curfew restrictions in the city.

The separatist leaders including the moderate All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, has Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq appealed for calm in the valley.
A police spokesman in a statement said, "Situation remained peaceful across the valley. In Srinagar, curfew remained imposed in the areas of nine police stations where the day passed off peacefully. Life remained normal in other parts of Srinagar and rest of the valley."
