Key spots in Sydney were all lit up in various colours and patterns as part of the VIVID light festival. The 18-day festival will see various spots lit up in galactic-inspired designs, surreal snakeskin and multi-coloured digital patterns.

Like moths fluttering towards a ray of light, tens of thousands of sightseers wandered towards Customs House. The front of the building awash with swirling patterns overlaid with strings, which jump and change mood and colour, react to instruments played by visitors.

Martin Place, an area in the middle of city’s central business district, features prominently in Vivid Sydney. Spectators can see the MLC Center, one of architect Harry Seidler’s most iconic works, transformed into a tree.
