Rediff.com's Prasanna D Zore and Satish Bodas capture the most moving moments at Shivaji Park where Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray was cremated on Sunday evening.

It was an emotional scene at Shivaji Park where Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray was cremated on Sunday evening.

This was where he launched the party 46 years ago at a massive rally on Dussehra and this is where he was consigned to flames.

Over two lakh people gathered at Shivaji Park where Thackeray was given full state honours -- a 21-gun salute.

Son and successor, who performed the last rites, stood grim, while nephew Raj was inconsolable. Thackeray's servant Charansingh Thapa, stood along with Uddhav and Raj, Sena patriarch's estranged son Jaidev and grandsons, as the family, united in grief.

Thousands of Sainiks broke down too and emotional crowds started chanting 'with Amar rahe amar rahe' as the funeral pyre was lit.
