Pakistan pounds Indian posts again with rockets, mortar

In the second ceasefire violation this week, Pakistani troops pounded Indian posts with mortar bombs and rockets and fired indiscriminately along Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

Armed with heavy guns and rocket launchers, Pakistani troops shelled Indian forward posts along LoC in Krishnagati sub-sector of Poonch district around 1630 hours, Brigadier General Staff (BGS), 16 Corps, Brig Satesh Dua told PTI.

Two to three posts came under unprovoked shelling and firing, he said.

Indian troops guarding the LoC, took position and fired back leading to heavy exchanges till late in the evening, he said.

Over 20 to 25 mortar bombs and rockets were fired on Indian side, he said adding that there is no casualty on among the Indian troops.

Pakistani troops fired from their Chuha, Pimple and Daku posts and targeted Indian forward posts of Kranti, Kripan-1, Chajja and Kripan-2 posts.

During the previous ceasefire violation on October 24, army jawan Moray Sehdev of 17 Mahar Regiment was killed when Pakistani troops targeted Indian posts with rockets in Krishnagati sub-sector.

Wednesday's ceasefire violation is the seventh in less than a month along the LoC in Jammy and Kashmir.

Pakistani troops had fired mortars and rockets and opened indiscriminate fire on Indian posts in Krishnagati and Jallas sub-sectors of Poonch district on October one and two. 

They had also opened fire in Kerni and KG sub-sectors in Poonch on Indian posts along LoC and violated ceasefire on September 28 and 29.

Earlier, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire on August 18 and 19 in KG sector.

Pakistani troops had also targeted six Indian posts with mortar, rockets and small arms fire in Poonch sector on the intervening night of July 15 and 16.

Ceasefire violation also took place along International Border in R S Pura sub-sector's Kharkhola and Bodla Border Out posts (BOP) on July 15.

There was no casualty on Indian side.

Pakistani troops had fired at forward positions along the LoC in Krishnagati area on July 5 night.

On July 9, Pakistani rangers had violated the ceasefire by resorting to small arms firing along IB on Khawara BOP in Mawa belt of Samba district.

Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire on July 7 when they opened fire at the Chak Pagwari BOP in Pargwal in Jammu.
On July 6, they had fired at Pindi, Mala Bela and Chak Phagwari BOP in which a BSF jawan was killed and a villager injured.
Pakistani troops had also fired at the Chak Pagwari BOP on July 5 and killed BSF trooper Sultan Ali.
