Emotions ran high inside the court of judge ML Tahiliyani as he pronounced the death sentence for Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, the Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorist, for his part in the November 26, 2008 carnage in Mumbai.

The announcement of the verdict sparked off frenzy outside the court. While the media jostled to report in the details of Judge Tahiliyani's observations, the general public took to the roads to celebrate the verdict.

'Omble's soul will rest in peace'

Eknath Omble, brother of slain constable Tukaram Omble who nabbed Kasab, talks about the verdict with a private news channel. Talking to rediff.com, he said: 'I thank Rakesh Maria (Mumbai top cop) and Ujjwal Nikam (special public prosecutor in the 26/11 case) for this. But the verdict must be carried on immediately.'

Candles are lit at the memorial for those who lost their lives on November 26, 2008, at the Chhattrapati Shivaji Terminus. NGO worker Pradeep Bhavnani, initiated the celebration at CST. He had visited the Siddhivinayak temple earlier in the day to pray that Kasab be given the death sentence. He was soon surrounded by others who had brought sweets and crackers for the celebration
