The Time magazine, in its March 26 issue, published an article on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, with the heading: "Modi means business", along with a strap: "But can he lead India?" The cover story highlights the achievement of Gujarat under his chief ministership. This is the first time a regional leader from India has been featured on the magazine's cover.
Rediff.com brings you some Indian politicians, who have been on the cover of Time magazine.
Time magazine named Gandhi the Man of the Year in 1930. Gandhi was also the runner-up to Albert Einstein as "Person of the Century" at the end of 1999.
In 2011, magazine named Gandhi as one of the top 25 political icons of all time. Gandhi has been featured on Time's cover thrice.
