Mumbai stays indoors over Thackeray's health

Thursday morning didn't wake up the 'city that never sleeps' as shops largely remained closed with news of ailing Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's critical health condition spreading around.

Sena bastion Shivaji Park in Central Mumbai's Dadar, where the party headquarters are located, wore a deserted look in the morning.

Hordes of Shiv Sena supporters, well-wishers, politicians and actors have visited the ailing patriarch at his residence Matoshree in suburban Bandra, where security has been tightened up considerably.

Mumbai's local trains have seen less-than-normal rush today and sparse traffic was noted on the roads.
