Millions of women marched the streets of Italy on Sunday to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who has been tangled in one scandal after another.

Marches were held in 200 towns and cities, including Rome, Milan, Genoa and Naples.

The PM is currently charged with under-age sex with a prostitute, Moroccan belly dancer Karima El Mahroug, 17, and abuse of power.

Banners carried by protestors read 'Berlusconi unworthy' and 'Italy is not a brothel'.

The PM has denied all the charges, reports the Daily Express.

Bruno Masucci, a marcher from Rome, said, "I'm here to defend the rights of women."

Education Minister Mariastella Gelmini dismissed the demonstration, saying, "It's just a small protest by trendy radical chicks".
