Just as a vulnerable India was coming to terms with the brutal gang-rape of a 23-tear-old woman in New Delhi, Pakistan violated the ceasefire at the Line of Control once again, brutally killing two of our soldiers -- Lance Naiks Hemraj and Sudhakar Singh -- while they were patrolling at Mendhar, Jammu and Kashmir.
While India protested loudly with Pakistan over the gruesome killings, the latter completely denied the incident; instead, went on to claim that it was the Indian soldiers who had opened fire at the LoC a few days ago, killing one of theirs.
The incident has opened a can of worms. While India refused to Pakistan's suggestion that an enquiry be conducted by the United Nations into the incident, the two countries continue trading accusations over ceasefire violations and the Pakistan government summoning the Indian envoy to serve a demarche on the incident.
Meanwhile, party workers of the Shiv Sena also staged a protest at Mumbai Hockey Association's stadium against the participation of four Pakistani players in a scheduled practice sessions.
The Indian Army also lodged a strong protest with the Pakistan army over a flag meeting between brigade commanders of the two countries at the Chakan da Bagh Crossing Point along the Line of Control in Poonch district.
While it is up to the government to decide what is to be done, a firm decisive action is definitely called for.
