Members of the "Guglmen", a secret society who believes that king Ludwig II of Bavaria was murdered, climb stairs near the Starnberg lake in Berg, near Munich, one week ahead of his 125th death anniversary. Ludwig II of Bavaria (also known as the Fairy-tale King and Mad King Ludwig), the builder of the famous Neuschwanstein castle, was diagnosed as mentally ill and incarcerated in Berg Castle.

On June 13, 1886, his doctor arrived to take him for a walk. A few hours later they were both found drowned in Starnberg Lake. Officially ruled a suicide, there are many people who believe that the king actually was murdered by his adversaries.

A group of 94 refugees and two asylum seekers from Pakistan, all members of the Ahmadiyya, were released on bail on Monday from detention in Bangkok as they await the results of resettlement applications, mainly to the US.

Most of them have been held for more than six months in overcrowded immigration detention centres in Bangkok. Some Muslims deem the Ahmadi heretical and the Ahmadiyya community in Pakistan is often targeted in attacks by Islamic extremists.

An aircraft belonging to Austral with ash on it from Chile's Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcano chain remains standred on the tarmac of the sky resort San Carlos de Bariloche in Argentina's Patagonia. A volcano dormant for decades erupted in south-central Chile on Saturday, belching an ash cloud more than 10 km high that blew over the Andes and carpeted the resort in neighboring Argentina.

The eruption in the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcanic chain, about 920 km south of the capital, Santiago, in Patagonia also prompted Chilean authorities to shut a heavily traveled border crossing into Argentina. Chile's government said it was evacuating 3,500 people from the surrounding area as a precaution. Officials said the volcano was spitting molten rock, but there was no visible lava flow.

Authorities in Germany have yet to pinpoint the exact source of the three-week E.colli outbreak that has killed 22 people in Europe and stricken more than 2,200 in a dozen countries -- all of whom had been travelling in northern Germany. So far, bean sprouts, cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce have all been suspected of spreading the EHEC bacteria (enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli) bacteria.
