They defy DEATH, with style!
We present recent and archive Reuters images of daredevils performing out-of-the-world stunts. The slideshow includes the latest image of France's daredevil climber Jean-Michel Casanova climbing the Bailong Elevator near a cliff in the Wulingyuan tourism area of Zhangjiajie, Hunan province, China.
The 330-metre-high (1,083 feet) elevator, opened in 2002, was claimed to be the highest and heaviest outdoor elevator in the world by local government officials.
Casanova successfully climbed the outdoor section of the elevator (172 metres, 564 feet) on Saturday without safety equipment in 68 minutes and 26 seconds, local media reported.

Austrian parachuter Felix Baumgartner, who goes by the code name "Base 502," prepares to jump from the arm of the Christ the Redeemer statue atop Corcovado mountain, overlooking Rio de Janeiro in December 1999.
It was the first-ever known base-jump made from the site. In base-jumping, which is illegal in most countries, parachutists jump from buildings, antennae, spans such as bridges and earth points like rocks, and the parachute is only pulled open at the very last moment.
Baumgartner camped out overnite at the site and used a high-tech crossbow to shoot over the arm of the 30-meter-high statue to climb up. The statue and mountain are located 747 meters above sea level.

Aishan, the nephew of Adili Wuxor, who is known as "Prince of the Tightrope", is the first person to perform tightrope walking between two hot air balloons. He set a national tightrope walking record at 30 metres high, but failed in his attempt of 100 metres, local media reported.

Uighur stuntman Samat Hasan walks on a tightrope in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province, in April, 2009. Walking on a 700-metre-long (2,300 ft) rope with a 3.1-centimetre (1.2 inches) diameter and set at a 39-degree gradient, Hasan successfully broke the Guinness World Record for aerial tightrope walking after failing in a previous attempt in October the previous year, local media reported.
