Digvijay should join RSS: BJP

A day after a photograph of Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh was published in a Hindi daily with the leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Prakash Javadekar mockingly advised the former to join the Sangh. 

Javadekar also slammed Singh over his statements linking veteran anti- graft crusader Anna Hazare with RSS leaders.

"The issue with Digvijay Singh is that whenever he speaks, he ends up like a loud-mouth person as whatever he says turns into a noose for him. It is not a crime to get pictures clicked with big leaders of the Sangh; it is a good thing to do. Mr. Digvijay should also come into the Sangh in order to imbibe some morals and patience, as he needs them the most," Javadekar told the media.

A Hindi daily had published a picture of Digvijay Singh with former RSS chief Rajju Bhaiya and international President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Ashok Singhal, during the Virat Hindu Sammelan in 1997.

Earlier, RSS leader Ram Madhav said the photograph proved Congress had an age-old habit of changing platforms for the sake of electoral dividends.

"This recent exposure through the photograph is the reaffirmation of the age-old communal politics that Congress has been indulging in right from the beginning. They have no qualms in going to a particular platform for the sake of electoral dividends and in the same breath they have no sense of shame in going and attacking them publicly again for the sake of some other group votes," he said.

"This is the kind of minority politics, communal politics that they have been indulging in right from the beginning. I don't see anything more than that in this so-called controversial photograph of Digvijay Singh. I don't believe that he had any faith in any particular ideology anytime. His only faith is in his communal vote bank politics," he added

Recently, Digvijay Singh asked Hazare to clarify his alleged links with the right-wing outfit, after a Hindi daily published a photograph of Hazare with RSS leader Nanaji Deshmukh and claimed that the anti-corruption crusader had worked under the latter's leadership in 1983.
