The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday demanded action against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi in connection with the Commonwealth Games and 2G scams, saying the duo were director and producer of the "corruption movie".

"Manmohan Singh says he does not know anything, Sonia Gandhi also has the same answer... Those who do corruption should be punished along with those who help and oversee it. Sonia and Singh are producer and director of this corruption movie," BJP president Nitin Gadkari said in a rally in reference to the CWG and 2G scams.

"Why is only Suresh Kalmadi being hit by slippers? The Delhi government under Sheila Dikshit was also involved in the CWG scam. It was the Cabinet Committee, Finance Ministry and the PMO which cleared the files. Action should be taken against them," he said.

'A temple must be built in Ayodhya'

No action was taken by the PM against former Telecom minister A Raja when he was allocating 2G spectrum to some favoured firms, he alleged. With an eye on next year's assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Gadkari said the BJP has renewed its demand for construction of a Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

He said after the Allahabad High Court's order last year, it was proven that the site of the Babri Masjid is Lord Ram's birth place and a temple must be built there. The party president ruled out any post-poll alliance with The Bahujan Samaj Party, saying BJP does not want to repeat "earlier mistakes".

Also ruling out an alliance with the RLD, he said the party will be happy to sit in the Opposition benches if it does not get the mandate to form the government.

'Only a madam and prince in the Congress'

On Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's demand for a dalit to be included in the Lokpal Bill drafting committee, Gadkari asked, "How many dalits got employment in Mayawati's rule? How many dalits died of malnutrition and hunger under her regime? She needs to answer this."

Terming the BJP as a "historic" democratic party, he claimed that it is only in the BJP where a party worker can become its chief, while in Congress the party post is "reserved for the Gandhi family".

"It (Congress) is not a public limited company. In Congress every one toes to Sonia Gandhi. There is only a madam and a prince in the Congress, the rest do not matter," he alleged.

'The Centre is inviting intruders into the country'

Accusing the Congress of "appeasing" terrorism in the name of secularism, Gadkari said, "Congress is playing communal politics by categorising terrorism into saffron and other forms."

The Centre is "inviting" intruders into the country as it has failed to stem the illegal inflow of Bangladeshis and that of the Chinese military, he said, adding that BJP has  renewed its demand for immediate capital punishment to Parliament attack case accused Afzal Guru.

The BJP will prioritise cleaning of rivers Ganga and Yamuna and construction of cold storage for food grain if the party comes to power, he said.

BJP Uttar Pradesh in charge Narendra Singh Tomar, senior leader Lalji Tandon, state party president Surya Pratap Shahi were among those who attended the fourth such rally in the state.
