Bharat Bandh: 'How easy it is to fool Indians'

Last updated on: May 31, 2012 11:59 IST

Even as the Opposition is going hammer and tongs to enforce the nationwide strike call against the petrol price hike on Thursday, the common man seems to be backing off from joining the protest.

We had asked our readers if they supported the call for Bharat Bandh. Here are some of their responses. If you have something to say about the bandh,
post your comments here

@suchet bal: Petrol prices will always rise. Politicians will call bandhs. Their party workers will resort to violence. Next day all will return to normal.

@atul: BJP and Sena leading bandh for petrol hike is nothing but drama. They hiked the BEST fares by 40-50 per cent just a month ago. Why there was no cry at that time. ALL DRAMA, OUR NETAS DO NOT HAVE ANY CHARACTER. The fare hike of BEST buses has affected the 41 lakh travellers travelling by bus. First protest against that hike then we will support u for this bandh.

@nrthwst: What does INDIA get in such types of BANDH? In fact, we lose crores of business transactions that will directly effect our economy. Damaging public property does not show the right path for a developing country.

@brijesh: Bandh should be held mutually with cooperation. It should not be by force-(by damaging public property, disturbing normal life of normal people). Why don't we try to apply this bandh on big people like politician, industrialists individually instead of forcing common man individually to participating in bandh. Only then will it give real meaning of bandh.

'Politicians have no mercy for the people'

Last updated on: May 31, 2012 11:59 IST

Prem Selvam: Any damage to public property, the concerned political party has to pay for damages within a week failing which their recognition should be cancelled and the office bearers put behind bars

@Small brother: For petrol price hike opposition parties are punishing the people of doing bandh. The govt is not going to reduce the price. It would be enough if they say that they oppose the hike. We are familiar with this kind of situation. Bandh is self destruction. Politicians have no mercy for the people.

@Hindustani: How is this bandh going to help in reducing the fuel price? Can all the parties who support this bandh explain?

@tinku prasad: It should be left on citizen whether they want to protest or not. The BJP will destroy public property and blame citizens that aam junta has done this.

'Politicians have no rights to disrupt the life of everyday citizens'

Last updated on: May 31, 2012 11:59 IST

Save Tiger: They protest on the road and support Congress inside. What is the point to protest by these parties? How easy it is to fool Indians.

@vishwasJoshi: There is no way the govt CAN and will roll back. It simply is impracticable. Each litre of petrol is subsidised almost to the tune of Rs 12. Each time one takes a joy ride , govt loses money. This is paid for by the tax payers who do not use petrol driven vehicles.

@Passed: Politicians have no rights to disrupt the life of everyday citizens to show their own strength. Especially parties like Shiv-Sena, which do not have any understanding of "voluntary". All they know is how to use force for all the wrong reasons.

@SAM KIM: Though i do not like the concept of bandh, it's required to move this thick-skinned anti-people UPA. Prices of essentials have rised manyfold in the past 8 years of UPA. They are getting away with it.
