'A snake won't bite only the neighbour'
In a candid interview with news channel CNN-IBN, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has stated that the earlier Pakistan realises the perils of nurturing terrorists, the better it was for India and Afghanistan. Here are some excerpts from the interview
The world is marking International Malala Day. When the attack on Malala happened, you wrote to the Pakistani leadership saying it was time to jointly fight terrorism.
Afghanistan has for years hoped for better relations with Pakistan -- that has not happened. When the attack on Malala happened, it proved our point. Terrorism is a snake and when you train a snake, you can't expect it will only go in the neighbour's house. I am waiting to hear back from the Pakistani leadership.
But Pakistan says Malala's attacker Maulana Fazlullah is in Afghanistan and you need to go after him.
If Maulana is in Afghanistan, where has he come from? Pakistan? Who trained him? Who gave him resources?

Yes and the earlier they accept it and fight radicalism, the better for us, the better for Pakistan and the better for India.
Hamid Karzai on United States:
In his first interview since the US presidential election, Karzai also criticised the US for its policy towards Afghanistan, saying he hoped President Barack Obama would now attend to his concerns over civilian casualties.
"We believe the war against terror won't be won by bombing Afghan villages, but by finding the sanctuaries of terror and financiers across borders. The US never attacks the source of terror," he said.

'Bharat sabse achcha mulk hai'
Karzai also made it clear he would not stay on as President when his term ends in April 2014.
"It's no good for Afghanistan, and no good for me. I have done my time. A new president must take over." he said.
Hamid Karzai on India:
Karzai is in Mumbai to meet with Indian businessmen and make a pitch for more investment. He also said he remembers the years he spent in Shimla as a period of "great memories".
"India gave me an education, and also moral values. I learnt about Gandhiji and vegetarianism," he added, concluding in Hindi, "Bharat sabse achcha mulk hai (India is the best nation)."
