The third quarter of the year -- in the months of July, August, September -- the world has witnessed 500, 284, 715 cyber attacks, according to a report by an Internet security firm.
As if the news about over 50 crore cyber attacks was not scary enough, the report by Kaspersky Lab lists India among nations facing the highest risk of an online assault.
India is, according to the report, at a 51.88 per cent risk of 'local infection'.
The report also gives millions of users of smartphones across the world something to worry about -- 97.5 per cent of such attacks have been launched on mobile platforms, especially androids.

The majority of malware or cyber attacks are designed to siphon off money or steal personal data.
The report warns that cyber criminals working on mobile platforms are developing even more sophisticated tricks.
Other countries facing the maximum risk of cyber crimes are Vietnam (43.45 pc), Russia (49.66 pc), Kazakhstan (49.22 pc), Armenia (49.06 pc), Azerbaijan (48.43 pc), Tajikistan (45.40 pc), Belarus (40.36 pc) and Ukraine (40.11 pc).

In 76 nations -- including Germany (35.78 pc), Poland (32.79 pc), Brazil (30.25 pc), the United States (29.51 pc), Spain (28.87 pc), Qatar (28.82 pc), Italy (28.26 pc), France (27.91 pc), the United Kingdom (27.11 pc), the UAE (26.30 pc) -- 99 per cent of all users encountered at least one online threat.
The countries that did not face too serious a threat were Denmark (17.01 pc), Japan (17.87 pc), South Africa (18.69 pc), the Czech Republic (19.68 pc), Slovakia (19.97 pc) and Finland (20.87 pc).

Vietnam seemed to be one of the worst hit nations, with a 'maximum local infection rate' of 61.2 pc.
Other countries in the high-risk category were Nepal (55.61 pc), Bangladesh (54.75 pc), India (51.88 pc), Morocco (42.93 pc) and the Philippines (41.97 pc).
As many as 87 countries, including the United Arab Emirates (39.86 pc), Turkey (38.41 pc), Brazil (36.67 pc), China (36.07 pc), Mexico (34.09 pc), Germany (24.31 pc) and the United Kingdom (21.91 pc), face a moderate risk of infection.
The United States (20.36 pc), Canada (19.18 pc), the Netherlands (18.39 pc), Sweden (16.8 pc), Japan (12.9 pc) and the Czech Republic (12.65 pc), also fall under the 'low-risk' category.
