Rookie Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan and his father Mehmoodkhan Pathan have got involved in a criminal offence, for their alleged unauthorised video shooting in Jumma Masjid in Vadodara.

A police complaint against Yusuf, who is the elder brother of Irfan Pathan, and their father, was lodged at the Wadi police station on Wednesday, by Yusuf's paternal uncle Majid Khan Pathan, one of the trustees of the masjid, where the Pathan brothers were staying before coming to the spotlight.

Reports said the father and the son duo had heated exchange of words with Majid Khan on Tuesday evening, when the latter opposed to their video shooting in the masjid premises without prior permission of the masjid managing committee.

Police sources said, Majid Khan, who is not on good terms with Irfan's father, filed a complaint against Yusuf and his father in connection with the incident, but later withdrew it following intervention of other family members and community leaders.

For over the past three decades, the five-member Pathan family was living in a one-room quarter in the Masjid premises, as Mehmoodkhan was engaged at the masjid as muezzin to eke out a living.

A year after the family shifted to a new bungalow in the posh Tandalja area in 2004, Irfan's father was sacked from his job and even forcibly evicted from their one-room quarter, after a pretty old Quran preserved in the masjid got damaged in the rain, allegedly due to Mehmoodkhan's negligence.
