Youth Cong leaders to spend New Year at Sevagram

December 26, 2011 20:51 IST

Besides taking selected youth leaders to this institute for training, the Youth Congress also organises 5-day training camps in states to develop ideological clarity, communication skills and team spirit and guide them how to identify themselves with the locals and be the social activists more than just the political workers.

At a time when the young generation soaks in the New Year bash, the Youth Congress wants to set an example that it is different, assembling its national office-bearers at Sevagram Ashram near Wardha for four days from January 1.

Besides following the Ashram's routine of agricultural work, community spinning and cooking, the youth leaders will get training in communication skills and use of the organisation's Google-developed portal Pehchaan, developed at the instance of tech-savvy Rahul Gandhi, for interactions.

The 4-day training programme includes knowledge about the Youth Congress and its parent body Congress, as also their working and how to remain in live contact 24x7 using Pehchaan, to enable the office-bearers and members post activities they undertake in their respective areas. The IYC is the first political organisation to go for Google Apps.

Experts from corporate world and professional agencies are involved in running the institute to build character and discipline, though the political content is furnished through lectures by the seasoned Congress leaders.
