Yet another train robbery in Bihar

Six passengers of the 3049 Howrah-Amritsar Express were injured as armed robbers assaulted them and looted cash and valuables worth about Rs 1.5 lakh near Simultala railway station in Bihar's Jamui district on Sunday night, official sources said.

The dacoits numbering about 25 reportedly boarded the train at either Jashidih or Lahaban station when it had stopped there.

They looted passengers in one AC bogey and a sleeper coach and hit with butts of rifles and pistols those who resisted, official sources said, adding six persons were injured in the assault.

The

robbers pulled the chain and alighted from the train after crossing Simultala under Asansol division of the Eastern Railway.

The train remained stranded there for about two hours before resuming its journey to Jhajha where the passengers lodged an FIR, they said.

The passengers also demonstrated against the incident at Jhajha station where the injured were given first aid.

The incident took place barely 48 hours after dacoits assaulted and looted passengers of 3111 up Sealdah-New Delhi Lal Quila Express in Bihar's Lakhisarai district, injuring 21 people.
