Former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa was granted anticipatory bail by the high court on Thursday in the Upper Bhadra bribery case.
The court directed him to furnish a bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety of the sum. He was also told to cooperate with the investigating agency.
The Lokyaukta has been investigating allegations that the state government gave a contract for the Upper Bhadra project after Yeddyurappa had allegedly taken monetary favours for it.
It was alleged that a bribe of Rs 13 crore was paid to a company owned by Yeddyurappa's son in order to obtain this contract. It was also alleged that the Yeddyurappa, who was then the CM of Karnataka, had favoured the contractor.
