This week’s digest of stories that are weird and crazy!

1) People in Japan are taking wine baths and we want in

At the end of a hard day do you unwind with a glass of wine and a hot bath? Well, a resort in Japan have taken relaxation to the next level by combining the two. Just outside of Tokyo, in a magical place called Hakone Kowakien Yunessun, a public bath has been filled with lukewarm wine.

And, if you fancy a caffeine boost there’s also an option to soak in a coffee bath.

Or if you find yourself in desperate need of a detox, take a dip in the green tea pool.

2) This woman lets real-life vampires drink her blood

For the last 10 years, Blut Katzchen has been in the food-service industry -- as a meal for vampires.

The 28-year-old florist from Louisiana travels around the country to satisfy the bloodlust of self-proclaimed vampires by allowing them to drink her blood directly from her body.

“I have always been entranced with the whole vampire culture since I was very young,” she said. “I found a book on vampires in my sister’s collection and became completely entranced with it.”

3) Mexico City metro offers 50,000 free tickets to commuters who perform 10 squats

The possible cure for obesity has been discovered in Mexico: offer people free travel if they exercise.

After the country was ranked second in the world for obesity, with an estimated 37 million people overweight, drastic measures were resorted to in the nation’s capital, Mexico City.

Mexico City Metro, which services over 1 billion people every year, introduced 30 “health stops” in 21 stations across the city, where an electric metre counts the number of squats an individual performs. If the person completes 10 squats, they are given a free metro ticket.

4) Internet cats are getting their own museum exhibit

They have already conquered the internet but now everyone’s favourite whiskered companions are set to make an appearance at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image for a special exhibition focussed solely on the internet meme.

How Cats Took Over The Internet documents phenomenon such as ‘Grumpy Cat’, lolcats and Caturday to showcase some of the most famed creatures to grace the internet.

5) Woman to marry her pet dog after husband of 16 years -- her cat -- dies

Dominique Lesbirel was devastated after the death of her husband from kidney failure. They had been together for 16 years and did everything together.

Happily she has now found love again -- but still believes it is too soon to marry, remaining loyal to her first love Doerack.

It is a predicament many people can relate to -- except for a couple of small details.

Dominique’s first husband Doerack was her CAT -- and her new love is her dog Travis.

6) This is not Sparta: China cracksdown on half-naked ‘Spartans’

A salad store paraded dozens of half-naked Western men dressed as Spartans through China’s capital as a publicity stunt, causing a stir and drawing a crackdown by police who were photographed restraining some of them on the ground.

About 40 mostly blond and brown-haired men wearing bronze shorts, arm and leg guards and capes styled after the attire of people in the ancient Greek city of Sparta marched in Beijing’s central business district.

Bearing plastic tubs of salads, the bare-chested men attracted crowds of onlookers and posed for photos with women that circulated widely on social media.

Police were less amused. They dispersed the parade at the Sanlitun shopping area, and photos in state media showed police on top of two of the Spartans who apparently had been wrestled to the ground.

7) JFK airport’s new all-animal terminal is ahead of the pack

The dog and pony show is headed to New York’s JohnFKennedyAirport.

When a new terminal called The Ark opens opens next year, 178,000 square feet of posh amenities will include everything from a resort with suites that have large flat-screen TVs, to climate-controlled stalls, showers, massages, a private space especially set aside for penguin mating, a paw-shaped dog swimming pool, a jungle for cats made of live trees that will give them a tantalizing view of the aquarium, and stables full of the finest hay a horse could hope for.

Ok, clearly this terminal isn’t for humans -- it’s for our pets, livestock, birds and other animals that make their way through JFK.

8) This nutritious burger is made up of… FLIES!

There’s a new burger which is being touted as nutritious, however, there’s just one issue. It’s made of 500,000 flies. Though it may not sound delicious, a video shows how the burgers made out of the insects is making hamburgers sweat.

Africa’s Lake Victoria is now serving the burgers as an unlikely source of fast food for locals. The owners catch the flies in wet pots and mash them together to make protein-packed patties. They are then cooked like normal beef burgers, but are said to be up to seven times more nutritious.

9) This guy listed his failures and flaws on his CV

Meet Jeff Scardino.

Scardino has had a successful career in advertising and the likes, having worked in some of the top agencies in New York. But did he big himself up on his CV? Oh no.

Instead, he has created something called a “relevant resume” whereby he lists his failures, regrets and the times he messed up. And surprise, surprise, the job offers came in pouring after he sent his different resume to companies.

10) Property measuring only 8 feet wide built in-between two shops in Tokyo

Crammed between two shabby shops is Tokyo’s narrowest house -- measuring only eight feet wide.

The stick-thin home has all the amenities of a regular-sized house across four floors, boasting a kitchen, living room, single bedroom, study and a floor terrace, all fit snugly inside.

Built between 2010 and 2012, the abode -- called the ‘1.8m House’ by designers and and builders by YUUA Architects -- actually measures 2.5 metres wide by 11 metres tall. Located in the Thoshima-ku area of Tokyo, it was built for a couple and their cat.
