Prime Minister Narendra Modi left on Wednesday morning for his seven-day tour to Ireland and the United States.
"Working westward. PM @narendramodi departs on a 2 nation, 3 city visit to Ireland & the US, will address the @UN," tweeted External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup.
Modi will spend the day in Ireland where he will hold discussions with Prime Minister Enda Kenny. He will also address the Indian community in Dublin.
The PM will depart for New York the same evening for
the US leg of his tour."He has a very substantive programme in New York for two days. The PM is going to meet a number of people connected with financial, media, technology and manufacturing sector. One of primary objectives of his visit to the US is to get more foreign direct investment and make 'Make in India' a huge success," said Swarup.
"I expect the PM's visit to lay new benchmarks for our engagement with the United States," he added.
Modi will be in the US till September 29.
