The army on Monday suggested that none of its personnel were involved in the killing of a teenaged boy in Chennai, saying no discrepancy has been found during the "physical checks" of the weapons in its possession at St George Cantonment.

At the same time, Army Vice Chief Lieutenant General A S Lamba said further inquiry was going on and Army will fully cooperate with police. "Physical checks of all service and private weapons kept at St George was carried out and no discrepancy has been found," Army officials said.

Following the allegations that the 13-year-old boy Dilshan was killed by one of its sentries on guard duty yesterday, Army had ordered an independent probe, including physical verification of weapons at St George and the units located at Island Grounds.

All army personnel required for the investigation by police will be made available to them, they said. "We are fully cooperating with the civil police. Army is giving full support in the investigation," Lamba said. Citing preliminary probe, he said at that time, there was no armed guard on the guard duty in that camp.
