Figures released by his ministry indicate that in the last three years, the level of violence has come down in the North East and in Kashmir.
Despite rising instances of cross-border infilitration, the number of incidents reported have been on a steady decline. While 2008 saw 708 incidents, the following year witnessed only 499 incidents.
Peace is finding its way into North East as well with the number of incedents of extremist violence plummeting from 1561 to 397 till July 15, 2010.
Following are the details of the number of incidents, casualties of civilians, security personnel and number of terrorist/extremist killed in the State of Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern states are as under:-
