Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil on Monday said decision of cancellation of externment of the main accused in Pune rape case would be examined by Law and Judiciary Department and Advocate General.

"We will get the decision by the then Home Secretary to cancel externment of Subhash Bhosale, examined by Law and Judiciary Department and Advocate General," Patil informed the state legislature.

After the externment order, Bhosale had applied for its cancellation for three days, as his son underwent a surgery. He was granted the permission. His externment was cancelled after two months, Patil said.

On allegations from opposition that ministers pressurised the government to cancel the externment, Patil said Bhosale is in custody and the inquiry is on.

The minister said a police station would be set up in Wakad area, the hub of IT industries. Admitting that conviction in rape cases is low, Patil said the home department would try to bring such cases before the fast track court.

The adjournment notice was moved by Pune legislator Girish Bapat who said due to the rapid industrialisation in Pune, Pimpari, Chinchwad belt, incidents of crime against women had gone up.

The house should know who had cancelled the externment order of Bhosale, he said.

Supporting the notice, leader of opposition Eknath Khadse demanded that the government should reveal the names of the ministers who had cancelled the externment.

Shiv Sena MLC Neelam Gorhe raised the issue in the legislative council, demanding action against politicians who protected Bhosale.

The woman, who originally hails from Nagpur, was kidnapped and raped by the three accused, who posed as occupants of a 'share taxi' with Bhosale in the driver's seat on Thursday night in Pune.
