The suspected female accomplice of Amedy Coulibaly, the man behind the shooting at a Jewish supermarket in Paris, is believed to have left France last week to travel to Syria via Turkey, said sources.
Hayat Boumeddiene, the ‘widow’ of Coulibaly flew to Turkey via Madrid on January 2.
She is believed to have crossed the Turkey-Syria border on Thursday, a day after brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi killed 12 people at the offices of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, reports Daily Mail. On Thursday, her husband murdered a female police officer before shooting four hostages at a kosher supermarket in east Paris.
French police have killed all three suspects in the attacks.
Twenty-six-year-old Boumeddiene, who is believed to have helped plan the terror attacks, is “armed and dangerous”, police said. Mobile records show 500 calls were made between her and the wife of Cherif Kouachi last year.
French radio RTL released an audio on Saturday of Coulibaly speaking over the phone from the kosher market in which he slams Western military campaigns against extremists in Syria and Mali. He describes Osama bin Laden as an inspiration.
Al Qaeda's branch in Yemen said it directed Wednesday's attack against Charlie Hebdo.
