Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday wondered where have the Indian troops withdrawn to after the Chinese troops ended their incursions in Ladakh after 19 days.
“Incursions on the LAC have taken place regularly in the past, but this time they had come and put up tents for the last 19 days. It is good that diplomatic efforts have worked and the Chinese have withdrawn from the area. The only doubt one has in mind is based on the media reports that it was a withdrawal by both sides. I am wondering where from and where to have the Indian troops withdrawn from the area?” Omar told a media conference in summer capital Srinagar this morning where the civil secretariat offices reopened after their six-month sojourn in winter capital Jammu.
The chief minister was accompanied by the state Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday and state Director General of police, Ashok Prasad. A smartly-dressed contingent of the Jammu and Kashmir armed police presented the guard of honour on the occasion.
Replying a question on the Pakistan prisoner Sanaullah who continues to remain critical in the hospital after being attacked inside a highly secured jail in Jammu, the chief minister said, “The attack on Sanaullah is extremely unfortunate more so in light of the instructions given to the jail authorities by minister of state for home.”
“The principal secretary (home) is conducting an enquiry into the incident. Some jail officials have already been suspended. I have information available with me on the attack, but I will not share this with you. I have learnt through experience not to share initial information with the press after the Shopian incident in 2009 where the media reported my initial findings as final observations,” he alleged.
