The meeting came four days after Xi tightened his grip over power after the Chinese Communist party passed a special resolution -- only the third time it has done so in its 100-year history -- asserting its faith in Xi's leadership.

The meeting was scheduled for Monday evening US time and Tuesday morning China time (we learnt from KBC last night that China, like India, has only one time zone, despite its geographical size).
