Last week in Goa, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra’s iron man Sharad Pawar reportedly met for more than 90 minutes to discuss various possibilities of Indian politics in the coming months.
Their private meeting to discuss politics took place on sideline of the wedding of Gujarat’s richest industrialist Gautam Adani’s son Karan Adani to Paridhi Shroff, the daughter of Cyril Shroff, partner of India’s most distinguished corporate law firm.
In the three-day extravaganza, one evening was unique with Pawar, Modi, Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Praful Patel and few other politicians shared a room for chitchat at the Hyatt hotel in Goa where the best drinks and food were served.
Congress believes that Nationalist Congress Party supremo Pawar will remain the ally of the United Progressive Alliance until the elections, but after that, he will keep his options open to join the National Democratic Alliance or any other non-Congress group too, if the situation demanded.
Since Pawar’s political flexibility is high, the meeting between Modi and Pawar was significant.
