Munish Kaushik, a Delhi resident has started this initiative with his family members, where they go out and provide midnight snacks and a ‘jaadu ki jhappi’ to Delhi police’s night patrolmen
“I was driving around with my family on a particular 31st December late in the night, and was observing these policemen who were on duty, and thought to myself. ‘hey, these men have families too, but here they are patrolling the nights’.”
“But the policemen got suspicious because we were parked on one side of the street, and approached us with a questioning stance. I thanked him for what he was doing and said that I wanted to give him a jaasu ki jhappi. Not only did the policeman hugged me back tighter, he got emotional and exclaimed, ‘my chest swells with pride today, no one normally notices us’ in his Haryanvi accent,” says Kaushik.
“And since that night, I. with my family have been preparing and distributing tea and snacks for these men who patrol across the capital at night, no matter what time or festival it is,” says Kaushik.
