Aam Aadmi Party lawmaker Somnath Bharti, wanted in a case of domestic violence with charges that include attempt to murder, took a dig at the Delhi police, saying that he had, in the last five days, experienced their "supersonic speed" and wished they could use it in making the city "crime-free".

In a series of tweets on Monday evening, Bharti also denied that he was hiding from the world, adding "I don't want to give into the Modi police because their intention was not only to arrest me but also torture."

The 41-year-old was, on Tuesday, protected from arrest in connection with a domestic violence and attempt to murder case filed by his estranged wife with the Delhi high court asking the police not to take any coercive steps against him till Thursday.

"Last 5 days of experience is worth penning down. Also experienced d supersonic speed of DP, wish they cud use in making Delhi Crime-Free!!!," tweeted Bharti.

"Look at the efficiency of Modi Police: since under 498A arrest is difficult for Arnesh kumar judgment, hence slapped 307 and 313 to arrest."efficiency of Modi police: 9th Sept: FIR, 10th Sept: 164 statement and 10.30 pm notice issued for 11th Sept 10.30 am appearance.

"11th Sept: My house/office was raided by 15-16 police and MHA officials. 11th Sept: Anticipatory Bail application filed n listed for 14.09," he said.

Bharti said he was evading arrest as the Delhi police had slapped Section 307 (attempt to murder) and 313 (causing miscarriage without woman's consent) of the Indian Penal Code to arrest him, as they could no longer arrest him under Section 498A (subjecting cruelty on wife by husband or his relative).

"I was not hiding from the world. What I was trying to do.. it is Modi's police and I don't want to give into Modi police because their intention was not only to arrest me but also torture... I just wanted one day and I am going to give whatever they want. All proofs which will build the case further," he told a news channel.

He also termed as "ridiculous" the allegation that he used to direct his dog on his wife saying "a pet in the house can never be directed by one family member against the other."

Bharti claimed that problems in his marital life occurred, as his wife did not want to stay with him at his house in Malviya Nagar and said that he could not move in with her at her home in Dwarka, as he was a lawmaker from Malviya Nagar and could not leave his constituency.
