Denying the charge of backing rebel of Congress leader Sunil Deshmukh against the candidature of President Pratibha Patil's son Raosaheb Shekhawat from Amravati in Maharashtra assembly polls, Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said on Tuesday that party workers should learn to accept the party's decision.

Sunil Deshmukh was denied a party ticket from Amravati constituency against Shekhawat. "Even though Dr Deshmukh is my follower, I am with Congress party and its candidate. All allegations against me are wrong. Shekhawat's name was suggested by Congress committee unanimously and he has got ticket accordingly. He is a young candidate and I am

sure that he will win this election, " Vilasrao Deshmukh said.

"Even if an efficient minister is denied ticket, he should not make complaints about the party's decision of giving candidature. Party activists should learn to accept the party's decision and should work in its interests," Deshmukh, who was in Amravati to campaign for Shekhawat, told the press. He said no person is more important than the party. "The Party gives an opportunity to a person to work and hence he gets importance. Problems start when somebody starts thinking himself above the party", he said. No matter who he is, party and its policies are important than anybody, the former CM said.
