Vijayashanti may follow Khushbu out of Congress, into BJP

Senior Congress leader and actress Vijayashanti is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party soon, sources close to her said on Monday.

The former MP has not been active in Congress activities in Telangana in recent months.

If it happens, Vijayashanti would be the second popular star in South India to join the BJP after Khushbu in Tamil Nadu.

Khushbu too had quit the Congress and embraced the BJP.

Vijayashanti's return to the BJP will give a shot in the arm to the party which is going all out to capture the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in the elections to be held on December 1.

Vijayashanti, who began her political career with the BJP, joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and switched loyalties to the Congress in 2014 before the formation of Telangana state.

She was not happy with the treatment she is being given in the Congress, the sources said, and she may soon leave for Delhi to join the BJP.
