Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on October 22 released the Bharatiya Janata Party's manifesto for the assembly polls in Bihar which promised free distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine for everyone in Bihar once it has been cleared by the Indian Council of Medical Research.
The manifesto also promised 19 lakh jobs in 5 years, the appointment of 3 lakh teachers in next year, 1 lakh jobs in the health sector and farmers with the assurance of bringing lentils under the MSP regime.
The announcement led to a storm of criticism of the BJP by Opposition leaders and on social media.
