US drones on Wednesday fired a salvo of missiles at a compound in the restive South Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan, killing at 13 suspected Taliban militants, officials said.
The drones targeted a compound in Sararogha sub-division of South Waziristan Agency, officials of the local political administration told the media.
The drones fired at least six missiles in the attack.
The officials said most of the dead were Pakistani Taliban fighters.
Local residents said the number of casualties was expected to rise.
The strike came a day after a missile attack near Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan Agency, killed six suspected militants.
The CIA-operated spy planes have carried out hundreds of missile strikes in Pakistan's tribal belt over the past four years.
There have been over 60 drone attacks this year. The attacks were scaled up after President Barack Obama came to power.
