UPA government won't last till 2014: Advani

September 28, 2012 17:01 IST

Accusing the government of using the Central Bureau of Investigation to remain in power, Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani on Friday said he was "almost sure" that it will not last till 2014.

He attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh claiming that his contention about he being the "weakest" has regrettably come true.

"I am almost sure that this government will fall before 2014," Advani said while addressing the National Council meeting of the party.

"If someone asks me today, I can say with confidence that this government will not last till 2014 and may go out even before that," he said.

Advani claimed, "This government is sick and if compared to a patient, it is in an ICU and the ventilator is such that it will not be removed at all."

He said he has also consulted the BJP president if the party can finalise the list of its candidates for the general elections.

The BJP leader alleged that the government's stable ally was only the CBI, which will help maintain its grasp on power.

"The UPA has found a stable ally in the CBI which will help it to remain in power till 2014," Advani said.

He also said when he accused the prime minister of being the "weakest ever," he was criticised for being "unfair and uncharitable" towards him. However, "I regret to say that whatever I had said has come true."
