A local court in Banda on Friday extended the judicial remand alleged rapist MLA Purshottam Naresh Dwivedi by 14 days.

A ruling BSP leader, Dwivedi was booked for not only raping a 17-year-old minor girl in his constituency, but also passing her on to his henchmen, who were also jailed along with him.

Meanwhile, the court has fixed February 3 as the next date of hearing in the case.

Furious at the media, the MLA blasted mediapersons hovering outside the court. He said, "The media is a part of the conspiracy hatched against me by my rivals; they have twisted facts and cooked up a whole new case against me."

His goons even attempted to assault some mediapersons present outside the court.
