A local court in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district on Monday directed the police to look into a complaint, accusing Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan of cheating the people of a village, where the mega star had promised to build a women's college in the name of his star daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.

The complaint was moved on May 29 by Raj Kumari, the village head of Daulatpur village, about 40 Km from Lucknow in Barabanki district before the chief judicial magistrate, who had fixed May 31 for hearing. The court directed the local cops to carry out preliminary findings and submit a report before the court on June 10.

The court is also expected to take a final call on the complainant's plea to get a criminal case registered against Bachchan for failing to keep his promise to the people of the village , where he had acquired about 6 bighas of land for the purpose of building a college for women.

The complainant has also alleged that she was intimidated and threatened by Bachchan's men because she had questioned the actor's "false" declaration.
