August 28, 2006 13:49 IST

A three-day Border Security Force and Bangladesh Rifles conclave that begins in Shillong on Monday will focus on a host of issues, including handing over of Bangladesh-based United Liberation Front of Assam general secretary Anup Chetia to India.

The Indian delegation will be headed by BSF Inspector General in-charge (Tripura, Cachar and Mizoram frontier) S K Dutta while the BDR delegation will be led by Deputy Director General Brigadier General S M Golam Rabbani.

"We will urge the BDR to hand over ULFA leader Anup Chetia and other insurgent leaders to India," Sinha told UNI.

Sinha said the BSF will also hand over a list of 172

Indian insurgent camps in Bangladesh and ask the neighbouring country to dismantle them at the earliest. Recent skirmishes at Zakiganj in Asom' Cachar-Karimganj sector are likely to come up for discussion between the two sides.

Sinha said the BSF will request the BDR to strengthen their vigil along the international border to thwart cross-border crimes. The meeting will also discuss issues related to installing of border fencing along the zero line, which Dhaka strongly objects to, he added.
